It's been a while since I've bought or even shot CPHP or Discovery HP but recently 3 new rifles have made their way into my arsenal so it was back to break-in pellets. W-Mart has the .22 CPHP for less than 7 bucks so I grabbed a tin and ran about half of them through a Remington Express before finding an old tin of Disco HP half full and hiding somewhere, and decided to combine the two. At the time I also bought a tin of Benjamin Destroyers and Crosman Piranha. The Premieres had very noticeable seams, the other two look great.
A few days ago while getting towards the bottom of the tin I started noticing more and more pellets would fall all the way into the breech of my Talon SS and some would even fall out. Thinking this could be because most of the Disco HP were used up and now getting to the CPHP in the tin, I bought another tin of Disco HP and this is what I found.
These are a few of the worse ones I plucked out, they look like they were made by Gamo! On top of every pellet having a pronounced seam there were an incredible amount of lead flakes in the container. WHAT HAPPENED IN THE LAST COUPLE YEARS?! Seems their QC and consistency went out the door. I guess we'll see how accurate they are at longer ranges, for now my Talon SS throws them true but nothing really strays out of that barrel
