Hi All
Yes, I know. A Gamo Hunter Extreme SE is NOT the best choice for a complete newbie to air rifles.
It was a gift, from a well-meaning friend, for my 60th birthday.
Fortunately, I am not completely new to shooting. Most of my experience is handguns, I do have a couple of rifles, including a CZ 455. Like many actual SHOOTERS I am frustrated with the current .22LR hoarding/shortage situation. So is my friend, who has shot air rifles for years.
So, I have been trying to learn about my new Hunter Extreme. I already understand that 1650 fps is "optimistic" and not necessarily a good idea. I have zeroed my scope at 25 yards, with relatively few problems (other than an AWFUL trigger) using 10.3 gr JSB Exact Heavy. Grouping was just under 1 inch, and I expect to that to get better with practice.
Don't think this is going to work out for a back yard gun, though.
I'll keep trying to learn, looking for tips. I hope this is an active forum, I have found a couple that seem nearly dead.
Thanks |

Welcome and thank you for the Gamo report.
Believe it or not the Gamo triggers are much improved over older Gamo rifles.
I have a 12 year old Gamo something from Walmart.
An impuse buy I wish I had not made.
It's accurate but managing a trigger that takes a pry bar lever to discharge the thing is a challenge. |
