Purchased a Crosman pistol a couple years ago cause occasionally we would get a raccoon in yard and wife thinks they are cute (so no kill) thought with just a couple pumps I could shoot one in butt and maybe just shag it out of area. Never really worked out as planned.

The claims are that it will produce 550 to 600 fps, would this kill squirrel/chipmunks etc at close range within 15 yards.

They can be made to shoot much faster. I have one that will reach the upper
800's on 15 pumps and will do over 600 fps on 6 pumps.

They are also very accurate.

Interesting, I read that 10 pumps were suppose to be the limit.

"Never pump your airgun more than 10 times. Over-pumping can cause major damage to your airgun. Pumping more than 10 times may also leave a small amount of air in the airgun"

Now you got to admit that's a warning, and the problem is if it does crash and burn no way I'm gonna be able to repair it. Now I've read that 600 fps can kill but it's suggested a head shot is necessary. Me doing a head shot with a pistol is a dream only.

I built it from parts bought from E-bay and Amazon so did not receive
the warning.

In stock form anything over 10 pumps will not increase power and
only serves to put unnecessary and excessive strain on the pump
mechanism.

I put a rifle compression chamber in it and decreased the pump head-space
to achieve more pressure in the compression chamber. I also increased the
compression chamber volume to deliver a bigger volume of air behind the
pellet which in turn requires the gun to be pumped more times to
achieve the same pressure level.

I also added an 18" barrel which also increases velocity.

Over pumping the gun could cause a seal to blow I suppose, but replacing
all of the seals is only $3, so if you do blow a seal it is a cheep fix.

I used 90 durometer seals for increased durability.

I have used it almost daily for over seven months with no failures.

GO to www.crosman.com and email the nice people there(and they really are nice) and get you a shoulder stock. THey aren't very expensive and you will have rifle accuracy. Please don't try to kill a squirrel or a chipmunk with a BB though. ALWAYS use pellets for hunting. And yes 10 pumps will kill with a head shot at close range. If not, be ready with something else to finish them off like a knife to the throat or something. DOn't let them suffer, please!Hollowpoints are best for me. You may want to try pointed, but I have accuracy problems with those. Just be careful in your shooting and happy hunting!

Well, if you want to be that barbaric, you can always just stomp their little heads. (shudder) I like the clean humane way better. Not only that how are you going to get a clean hide out of a squirrel with his brains all over the place?? And you are going to eat those splattered body parts too? I wouldn't waste a squirrel like that.I eat what I kill. If i don't eat it at least my dad's dogs do.

Course that explains the weight gain after each divorce.....lol

I usually just use a stick and aim for the head- honestly, i certainly don't waste any meat in my clubbing. I grew up watching my dad ball-peen-hammer my bunnies every friday to snuggle them up to biscuits... lmfao
