Any airgun collectors (as opposed to "accumulators" ) on the forum? If so, what type(s) do you collect?

Dang! You had to differentiate between 'collector' and 'accumulator'! I think that blows most people around here out of it.
But it would be interesting to know if and who is a real collector.
I have to admit though, our initial focus of "modifications" and "no airgun taboos" may have encouraged people other than collectors to come around. That's not to say there's no space for this sort of thing. If people here do collect[proper] airguns- we could have a "collector discussion" forum as well. |

Good question. What makes for a real "collector"?
Maybe someone who owns more than 6 guns and their average age is closer to 25 years than it is to 2.5years!
From the bits and pieces of lauchlin's stuff I've seen out and about the 'web, he would be a 'collector' by that definition for sure. |

Don't have to be 'old' to be a collector- just have some 'old' guns! |

I'd say your third picture counts as "old" these days. Is that a Crosman 100 or a 101? If a 101- which version?
And what is the gun in the first picture with the funky bolt? Was the cut-off trigger guard how it was manufactured- or did old age get to it? |

Very impressive collection there lauchlin!
Eric - I think the trigger guard of the Rifle in the first picture is hidden behind the clamping part of the workbench, Not cut off!

I wouldn't define it from how many you own, or how old they are, but from your attempt to built it around a coherent theme.
I'm new to air guns, so can't give you an example. But to borrow an example from cartridge firarms: if someone owns:
a WWI bolt action .30-06 Springfield rifle
a .40 Glock autoloading pistol
a .22 Colt Woodsman autolaoding pistol
a .22 small-bore competition rifle
a .45 replica flintlock rifle
a 12 gauge Beretta over and under shotgun
and an airgun, any airgun...
...this is NOT, to my thinking, a "gun collection". There's no theme to it. It's just an accumulation of odds and ends: various shapes, sizes, calibers, purposes, eras, ignition systems.
A gun COLLECTOR would go for:
.25 Browning autoloading pistols
artillery model Luger autoloading pistols
.22 gallery rifles
L.C. Smith shotguns
U.S. military pistols
lever-action Winchester rifles
.32 nickleplated revolvers...
A collection is "about" "something", to my way of thinking, else it's just an accumulation.
