FedEx Rastafarian showed up this morning with my refurbished .22 RWS Model 460 combo. Nice looking big heavy rifle with God-awful front sight, great wood, and a little bitty capital "R" stamped on the left top forend.
Carefully degreased receiver rail, RWS drooper base mounting rail, rings and new Leupold Compact Lightweight 3-9x32 EFR scope before putting them all together in the proper order with arrows going the right way and boresighting. Zeroed first offhand on my downstairs 10 meter range and then out the backdoor at 25 yards (1.5" high POI) with available Crossman hunting pellets. Pretty much putting all of them into the same hole.
While I was finishing up with the initial sighting in and commencing with the break-in rounds, guess who happened by? Red squirrel #3 (#1 and #2 having already been helped to leave this "veil of tears"). Scratch red squirrel #3. DRT.
Right now, in my book, .22 rules! |
