This weekend I got my first confirmed kill with my Beeman 2008 pistol. This was one of the two pistols I had that I'd been working on the trigger mechanisms recently. Its a two stage triger so you can cock the hammer and then just sqeeze the trigger a tad in order to fire it. This is much better than most c02 pistols which require a lot of pressure and movement to complete the trigger cycle which loads then fires the bb/pellet.
It's still pretty hard to squeeze that trigger but I developed a way of doing it in which I use both index fingers and thumbs in conjunction and I seem to get a smooth consistent release.
Anyhow, I saw a bird in the tree and grabbed the pistol. I was shooting out the window again so I could use the sill to rest the handle on. I missed the first shot and the bird began fluttering from branch to branch. I took aim again and got it right in the back into the heart. The thing dropped right away. I was pretty suprised it was that effective. The shot was over ten yards and the gun had been loaded for 3 days and already had about 20 shots through that co2 cartridge. I was using some beeman superpoints which penetrate easy, so I think I just got nice shot placement on it. But it always feels good to get a kill with an air pistol, especially a co2 one with no optics. |

I'm planning (if all goes well) to go co2 for squirrel this fall. We've got a good sized wood lot nearby and I think it'll be perfect. |

No optics? Not even open sights? |

What's the temperature during fall in Tennessee? Don't forget CO2 can get a nasty power drop at low temperatures. |

Depends on the area of course, but around Nashville we've got warm weather up through Nov. usually. The season opens at the end of August. I'm hoping for some time in Sept. to hit the wood lot. A lot depends on my wife's health and such. Should easily be in the 70s even the 80s in Sept. Nashville tends to have mostly 2 seasons. Summer, then winter, then back to summer. If we get fall and spring it seems to be kind of a bonus. |

This weekend I'm planning on using a co2 pistol, although I have 4 air rifles. Are the co2 one's really loud? |

No, next thing to pcp, though you don't get as much power usually. I always have wished that mfgs. would make some more powerful co2 guns instead of having them moded or buying pre-moded models. A lot more could be done with co2 than is being done. I've got a 2250 with a pistol grip and scope I may use, though I'm hoping to get the "funds" together (or at least enough paid down on my credit card so I'm comfortable with using it) to get an RWS 850. |

Used a CO2 pistol today and yesterday. They are nice, but the one I used had a dirty barrel. So the accuracy wasnt THAT good. But other than that, they are good. Besdies the CO2 and all. |

Do your guys's co2 pistols have terrible trigger pulls like mine? |
