I have equipment for most type's of metalwork, the only problem with making parts for someone else is that after making one part I get fed up, plus most parts are hand made so its time intensive. If you have an order for say 50 items you can jig up for it so they are easy to make, but it probably takes two days to make the jig. A catch 22 situation.

I realize this is a really old thread. However I just wanted to thank you for responding to my pm asking for the details of tightening and adjusting the barrel. They were great and really helped me to understand. After having done it with your instructions it all seems so easy now.
The gun seems to be shooting even better now. ( no chrony yet )

Hey there Al,,Nice lookin' gun, but I really wanted to ask you about the Combro chrono you have, Are they good?,Can you give me a "sit-rep" on the unit, I have an oppurtunity to purchase one here for $90.00cdn, and I was wondering if it's worth it. The Combro Crony is a brilliant pice of kit, I have had mine for about a year now and not a single problem with it, I'll give you a run down of its features.

It can be set for meters per second or feet per second for speed and ft.lb or joules for power, max velocity is 600m/s and max power is 75 joules.
You set the weight of pellet you are using and either Metric/ Imperial display. It will fit any gun with a round barrel including silencers or muzzle breaks, some guns such as the Winchester which has a magazine tube or cocking leaver below the barrel you need to turn the Combro on its side of even upside down, it makes no difference, it’s supposed to be accurate to within 1% and as far as I can make out it is. I have taken it down to the club and tried it out against a base unit and it reads just the same, the only thing you can’t do with it is record the down range fps, unless you can shoot through a 12mm hole at 25m and risk blasting the Crombo but parts are cheap and easy to get.

It records all shots and you can recall min or max fps or ft.lb also average fps or ft.lb, also in metric, it uses four LR44 batteries which last me about nine months, it does shut itself down after a couple of minutes which saves the battery, it is possible to connect it to a computer where it will display each shot you can buy a cheap adapter for this or make one, the output is for a serial port.

What more can I say? It cost me £ 40.00 over here so $90.00 sounds about right.

About how many shots before the velocity drops off, now that it has started to 'break in' properly?

How about accuracy? Getting better or staying about the same?

I'm still remarking at how joyous your backyard looks in that pic. The perfectly manicured lawn, the beautiful array of flora, the romantic gazeebo toward the back.

The gun was nice too.

With using two Co2 capsuls in the butt and a 300mm feed tube, plus a large valve unit gives it a fairly large ready use gas volume, consequently the consistency of shot fps is very good.
As for the amount of shots, I get about 80 shots per charge, of them 60-70 are good depending on the tempreture, accuracy is good 10mm group at 20m using a peep sight, also the barrel is a walther which does help, I think if I had something like a 4x scope it would be a lot better, but it wouldn't look nice.

Haha thanks the compliment on the garden Roger which is the wifes domain, I just cut the grass, it is nice in the summer especialy since I shot a couple of Magpies which were scaring off other birds, that was with a QB78, I do have a 12 gauge but daren't use it in the garden, it would shred the flowers, the last time I used it about a year ago I shot a Canadian goose which fell through the tractor shed roof, it weighed 10lb and tasted very good.

I suggested to my wife that we do the environmental, "green" thing and get a tall grass prairie restoration permit for our yard. "She who must be obeyed" rejected the notion in favor of cutting the grass. For several years we had a lawn mower that I cobbled together from parts. The only throttle lever that I could find mounted on the left side. Since she is left-handed (and I right) I convinced her that it would be a safety risk for me to use the mower. Two years ago she bought a new one with a right-hand throttle. The end of an era.

Here in Minnesota we have mosquitoes that can carry off dogs and small children. I had read that CO2 (and infrared) attract them, but I never connected the CO2 part until one summer night at dusk shooting my 2240. It's true. Now almost all my CO2 shooting is indoors. Still, it is a consistent and convenient power source.

My brother told me that there are CO2 capsules on the market from eastern Europe that are painted, rather than plated. According to him, the paint flakes off and compromises the valve seals. Do you know anything about this?

A beautiful gun, made more so by the removal of the plastic parts.

I quite like cutting the grass the only problem is that the dog pees on the grass and kills it she also pees on the mower and send it rusty, it's held together with auto putty now which is a shame because it has a bloody good motor on it.
as for the painted Co2 I have seen some red painted ones sold with bicycle tyre pumps, but never used them, by the way if you get a Winchester do not use Crosman Co2 capsuls in it, the Winchester docking unit seals the capsuls by an O ring around the neck so that they can be left in the gun for long periods, and the top of Crosman capsuls have a gap between the cap and capsul and this tears the O rings out of the gun.

Keep squating them mosies. Smile
