While I am enjoying target shooting in the back yard with my son, he has a red rider, I have a gamo. I was getting interested in having a fairly accurate pistol to shoot sometimes. Accuracy over power. Something that isn't too spensive.

| Do you prefer co2, springer, or pneumatic (pump-up)? I have several good co2 pistols. There are some very good target types or field target types (like the ones recommended in the post before this one). I just wondered if you had a power plant preference. |

| The problem, as I see it, is that any pistol that is reasonably accurate would basically become either a match-grade pistol, and/or one that would cost in excess of a couple hundred dollars. As you may have gathered, people willing to do a fair bit of work on their own guns have had pretty good success with the Crosman 2240's- cheap to buy, maybe put on a 14" barrel and/or recrown the barrel, add the cheap ($10) set of Crosman intermounts and put on a small scope. Under $100 in actual cost, reasonable accuracy, and something to amuse yourself and maybe your son too taking it apart and re-assembling it. |

I have a 2240 that I like very much. It's a good pistol out of the carton, if you want you can upgrade it, install a better receiver etc. There is also the 2300S with a target barrel for about $200 ( http://www.pyramydair.com/p/crosman-2300s-silhouette-air-pistol.shtml )
I don't need a target grade pistol, I enjoy the Umerex replicas and other co2 guns. Look around at Pyramyd and some other retail sights (Airgun Depot, Compasseco, Cobra some others). I hope you find what you're looking for. Any good (that's good) co2 pistol will give you satisfactory performasnce at ten meters or so. |
