Has anybody tried out or used either a Zeiss Z-Point red dot sight or a Eotech Red Dot, I am thinking of buying a new red dot sight so I thought if I'm getting a new one I'll get a good one, These two are among the best from what I can make out, I need something that has a 2 moa dot or smaller.
I have a Walther MRS red dot at the moment and when set up is excellent, but when you want to change the poi it is a sod. So any suggestions for a decent red dot would be appreciated, one other thing I require this sight for a Rohm Twinmaster.

I have a reaaal nice AimPoint Comp M2 on my XS-B9-1, and I must say it truly is a remarable red dot dight, ultra clear optics, and it stay's Zeroed in no mattter what you put your gun through. |

Hi 2RCHA
I have had a look at the AimPoint but it is a bit large for a pistol, also I'm comming to the conclusion that both the Zeiss and Eotect/Bushnell will look out of proportion as well. So I might just rebuild my Walther MRS sight with a diffrent adjusting system.

Al, you're a "if it's broken I'll fix it" kinda guy.
I picture it that if your car would break down you'd just build a new engine. |

Do those things also have a zoom? Sometimes you see something like a 2X20 red dot or something. Why would anyone want that? |

Aimpoint has some 'zoom' models, but I haven't tried any . . . yet |

I was the plant engineer in a large textile plant for 40 years, and when something broke down you didn't allways have the spare parts to repair it, and if your running 24/7 gettings up and running quickly was a priority, so you had to make the parts or work around the problem.
Car engines are just a load of black boxes these days, I like things that you can see whats wrong, not something that needs a computer to tell you it don't work.
So thats where I get it from, plus it saves me money,
J
I rebuilt the Walther Red Dot and it's OK now, but I did buy a Hawke Red Dot for my B4 which works well out to 20m.

That Walther looks alot like the Millett. Wonder if they're built in the same plant?
The 5moa Millett on the AR6 pistol is very effective for starling and pests. Usually able to hold about a 3" {75mm} group {rested} at about 60m on paper. Within 40m, the starling are in trouble.
The 3moa is really nice on a carbine rig, but I'm currently in the middle of that rebuild . . . |

Hi J
This is the Walther sight I was talking about, it's a very nice unit the only problem is when you want to adjust the elevation, you need an allan key, also when you adjust one setting it upsets the other, but once set it can be locked and it stays there, I usualy shoot with it on my Twinmaster using the 20m range, which is quite handy when I come down to 5m for the weekly target shoot.
The site in the other post is a Hawke which is very similar to the Walther and is probably from the same factory, it is a very good red dot, it is also a 3moa which I like, especialy out to 20m, the best I have got with it is 2" group at 25m using my QB78 but I think the sight is better than the gun

Have a couple of BSA reflex like that Walther, and just haven't gotten around to putting a solid 'lock' on them. The spring loaded lens block is alright if the recoil 'resets' the sight block, but on most air pistols the vibration is just enough to make it unrepeatable.
The Millett seem to be doing well on everything they've been on so far and are much lighter than that BSA reflex. Whudathunkit? |
