What 1400?
If you mean my 140 (it predates the 1400) then yes Crosman made them from the early 1950's on into the 1400 series through most of the 1970's.
They are great rifles. The sears version is a bit nicer than the Crosman version of the 140, though with the Crosman 1400 Crosman took a que from the Sears version and took a lot of the features of the Sears version of the 140 into the design of the 1400. |

Yes, Internally they are exactly the same. The 1400 replaced the 140, with a few small changes, most of which the Sears variant of the 140 already has. |

I was not thinking all the way, some people that do not know any better on a firearms forum got under my skin a bit with there anti AirGun hunting antics. |

I bought a Benjamin 397 last year, had high hopes for it to be a nice shooter using open sights, it's not bad, but very inconsistent, and seems a bit heavy for a MP. Shoot it at 35 feet in my basement and I had to bend back the front sight a little which helped. Never could get a good group with the thing regardless of pellet. Still tinkering with that one  |

Have you cleaned the paint over-sprey out of the end of the barrel?
If you get a Crosman 140/1400 chances are that it will shoot quite well, most of them are still in that good of condition.
One recommendation that I would make for the 140/1400 is to get the complete reseal kit from MAC-1, and install the O-Ringed piston head, it will improve the power a bit. You can keep the rest of the reseal kit for when ever the 140/1400 needs resealed, and you have less to worry about if it turns out that you get a 140/1400 that needs resealed. |
