Two things I noticed. Firstly the OP asked about the Daisy 853, this is a Single Stroke Pneumatic (SSP), having no one way check valve on the inlet to the Air Chamber, so no matter how much you pump it the results will equal 1 pump (about 480FPS to 500FPS with this particular gun).
The Daisy 853 and 953 are not the same as the 880 and 901. The 853/953 are SSP Air guns, while the 880 and 901 are MSP Air guns.
Secondly on the Daisy 880 MSP (that does do 700FPS in its stock form with real lead pellets at 10 pumps [7.2 grain pellets]). This has become my favorite gun, very quickly. I used to favor my Crosman MSPs, though the Daisy 880 does excellent, and is moddable.
The newer Daisy 880 with all of the plastic on the outside is still the same metal on the inside and thus the mods for the old 880 and 901 still work with it. The 901 and 880 are exactly the same gun just wearing different clothes. Everything inside these guns is 100% identical.
And I have been modifying my Daisy 880 for power. I have also figured out a trigger modification that will not sacrifice the strength of the hammer spring, I have not yet implemented the Trigger modification.
Though my Daisy 880 now exceeds 9FPE on 8 pumps and that is more than I need. Though as I enjoy modifying Air guns (as I got back into Airguns with a Crosman 2289g), I will likely be doing even more to improve the power of my Daisy 880 as time moves forward. |

I am surprised that there are not more people modding the Daisy 880. Especially as low cost as the newer ones are, there is little to nothing to lose.
There is a lot of potential hidden in these rifles. |

The OP asked about a Powerline 856 which is a multi pump air rifle. I own one. |
