Hi I have been speaking to many people & most of them think that a break barrel pistol is the way to begin my “air pistol adventure” .
I do not want any kind of pump air gun as my girlfriend has a hard time with it and I don’t particularly like them anyway.
CO2 guns are not what I am looking for right now.\
I have been told that a Nitro piston or gas piston is more reliable , & most importantly to me requires less maintenance
I have been considering the following
Benjamin Sheridan Trail NP 495 fps
Webley & Scott Typhoon - Recoil Free 450 fps
Hatsan Model 25 Supercharger ???
Browning Buck Mark URX 320 fps
Ruger Mark I 500 fps
Baikal IZH-53M - 360 FPS
Can someone “please” lead me in some sort of direction as I have no idea which gun to get.
Thanks Craig

I have a Ruger Mark I.
It didn't shoot worth a damn, and eventually a piece of plastic jumped off the block that holds the seal and the breach. Extreme disappointment. |

I suspect this is another instance of someone running around, asking a million questions and then never reaching a decision (this is not the only forum where these same questions by the same person are being asked, in multiple threads).
There is a point in time where too much "analysis" is a problem and a choice, any choice, should be made. |

HEY CRAIG:
Those guns on your list are OK for 10-yard targets, but not for serious airgunning, being at 500 FPS or less.
Get an underlever or breakbarrel springer that delivers something like 700 FPS and you'll have something good to start with!
Wanna stay with 350 FPS? Then get a Daisy Red Ryder BB gun from WalMart.
Welcome to the Forum!

I guess to drag this out a little more, you probably won't be satisfied with any of those when it comes to accuracy. I would suggest a Crosman 2240. easier to shoot than a springer and if you like then there are dozens of mods and tweaks that you could do to it. There will nothing or very little you can really do for those springers to improve performance and accuracy.
Sorry to bring the sad news. |

I just (a week ago) bought a .22 cal. Benjamin Regal at Big 5 for $150. It actually delivers (first time for me) the claimed speed (800 fps) and power (21 ft lbs) that the maker claims. Good power and very acceptable accuracy, But the trigger is somewhat crude. I plan on trying to put a GTR trigger in it soon to fix
that problem though. |

I would suggest staying away from CO² as that is mostly for
kids and is disappointing at best for an adult. |

I think the original poster is talking about pistols. |

| There is nothing wrong with Co2 unless you live in a colder climate and want to shoot outdoors in the winter months. |
