Also I am a beginner at buying airgun’s and as my budget is limited to a certain extent (under $ 200 ) . I I have been advised to begin by buying an overleaver pneumatic pistol (single pump) was comparing the Beeman P17 to the Weihreach HW 40 and to me they look practically the same except the Weihreach HW 40 is 3 ½ to 4 times the price of the Beeman P17 . Can anyone tell me why !!! And it is the price difference really worth it. Or is there any other overleaver pneumatic pistol that is just as good but inexpensive ?.

I would like to know what is a good background who use behind a target to stop the BB or pellet from going through and deflecting when you are using an airgun indoors. The FPS would be around 500 and the distance would be 20-30 feet. Besides buying an air gun trap I was thinking about using a piece of old carpet and possibly a piece of plywood or metal behind it. I don’t know how well this might work if at all - I should also mention that some of the people using the target will not be very good shots and therefore I need something that is about 3’X3’ to prevent them from completely missing the target and damaging the wall.
Could you please give me your opinions on it.

What kind of pellets might be best for target shooting (could you please name 2 or more types).

What kind of lubricating oil/grease would be best for an overleaver pneumatic ?.

While I am at it in case I decide to get a break barrel in the near future
what kind of lubricating oil/grease would be best for a break barrel ?.

Thank you Craig

As I mention before, overleaver pneumatic pistols can be hard to cock for some people. Try to find that out for you before you buy.

Wadcutters are designed for target shooting while domes are all around pellets.

Did you look at the Daisy/ Avanti single stroke Pistols? The 717 is in your price range.

I have a 747 and it is easier to pump than my P17. It took me three tries to get a P17 that didn't leak and that the trigger worked right on. Even then the trigger still acts up for no apparent reason. That would be the difference in price between the P17 and the hw 40.
As far as back stops go, a cardboard box filled with carpet, magazines or news papers will work for low powered pistols. Higher powered rifles are going to need a better back stop. Wood or metal with duct seal. There are plenty of plans available for pellet traps, Google is your friend for finding the info on building them.
Crosman Pellgun oil works great for pumpers and CO2, I have played around with other lubes but a $3 tube of Pellgun oil is the easiest.
