OK I was reading this:

http://www.pyramydair.com/blog/2013/12/building-the-100-precharged-pneumatic-air-rifle-part-1/

This got me thinking. Instead of using the Crosman 2100, I would use something like Archer Air guns CAR78 as the base.

I would want a short OAL, about a dozen shots per fill, able to use a bicycle pump, Dove tail for scopes, sling swevels, open sights, Below 700 fps, And priced at $200 or less.

The Crosman M4-177 would also be neat to turn into a PCP air gun.

For pellet pistols the 1377 would be another one.

So how doable would this be?

Thanks, but I was thinking that the reservoir could be put where the CO2 powerlets go in. And have enough air to shot around a dozen shots or so.

You can do that with a QB78 by just adding a bulk-fill fitting and pumping to about 1300-1500 psi.... Adjust the fill and refill pressure to give you the bell-curve (ES) you want.... A stock gun will give you about 23 shots at 600 fps, some top end work (the Stage 1 tune that I mentioned) will give you about 13 shots at 700, and you can get more power and fewer shots if you modify the valve....

Well then. If I ever find a place where I can shoot, I might do this then.

From some stuff I read, making a low cost PCP isn't a problem, it's providing a low cost source of HPA that the problem.

These are only filled to 1500 if I recall. They are producing some good numbers, 920-950 in .22.
There is some info on the yellow about them.

The FD-PCPs are made from the 1st Generation XS-60C's which had some minor problems, eliminated by replacing the tube with a longer high-pressure tube.... They hold 115cc, just a bit less than a Disco.... I'm going to be getting one to build for my son as a Grouse Gun....

Most of the guys that are playing with them are PCP noob's, and are tuning them for the most power they can (ie cranking the RVA to the max) and being rewarded with the first shot the fastest and declining velocity for each subsequent one (YUK!).... Having said that, it appears the gun does breath a bit better than a stock Disco, and has at least the same power available and at a lower fill pressure (1500 recomended)....

One other nice thing is that there is enough room in the receiver to machine the loading area away and install an MRod self-indexing magazine.... It's a bit of work, and the barrel and bolt need to be modded slightly, but from what I've seen it's do-able and is the plan for my gun....

I have a pet peeve about this sort of thing. Not everyone want a turbocharged PCP airgun. Quite a few of us just want something for plinking and target pratice. Other then rats and pigeons I have no plans on going hunting.

I agree, and the nice thing about PCPs is that you can tune them to shoot the way YOU want....

i modded the valve and did those other mods...i ended up getting 2 full power shot per refill... Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

my single biggest mistake is not have a bigger air storage...i used the standard QB, 2 CO2 caplet one... Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

OK I'm quoting myself here, but I'm thinking a MPP can be considered to be a a "one shot per fill" PCP with an onboard pump.

So with this in mind, why not design a "many shots per fill" PCP with a onboard pump that can be filled to 1500 to 2000 psi?

If we could do this then the problem is solved.
