My 2260 showed up today I got out my Disco to compare it and the stocks are the same other than the hole for the gauge.
It comes with the plastic breech and that will be the first thing to go. I ordered a steel breech kit at the same time I ordered the 2260.
I'm happy with it so far, shooting from my bench using the peep sight it is holding dime sized groups at ten yards with CPHPs. The trigger is what I was expecting, not great but not terrible either.
Once I empty this CO2 cartridge I'll put the SBK on, scope it and try some different pellets.

| I have ask a few that got 1, what is the wood hard maple? I almost hit the buy botton when they first poped up, but im hoping they start making them on regular production . I did talk to chip n he said it was moreso to test the water to see how they would sell. in my mind , it sounds like Chinese made crosmans weren't moving near as well as expected or they aren't raking in profit from them to the number that were returned. I had a titan and a quest, both went back. I finally got my money back and swore off those guns. I did recently buy a new 2240 and I like it . now to see how this gun does |

Crosman has 'confused' the customer with all the Chinese rifles- there are over a dozen "different" models all based on the same Chinese platform, and this doesn't include the different calibers or variations within the same "name" (i.e. an Optimus in .177, .22 or with/without a scope- this is one 'model').
Problem with this strategy was all the "big box" buyers (i.e. WalMart and such) were demanding cheap, yet "different" products- leaving Crosman little choice but to slap a different shade of lipstick on the same pig over and over and over again. I suspect that when confronted with 5 "different" models on a Wal-Mart shelf that are essentially the same thing, the consumer cannot differentiate anything other than appearance vs. price, they end up pickup up the Ruger or Daisy sitting next to them on the shelf more than they might otherwise as a result.
Not to be funny about it- but 90% of the airgun market is "impulse" purchase, the remaining 10% are people looking around places like this forum (i.e. getting information to educate themselves on a purchase)- and frankly, too much "choice" confuses the impulse shopper and they go in the other direction- i.e. to something different that is easier to understand.
I recall a time when I sold about 5 different items in one category, and I sold dozens of each. 10 times the amount of dollar sales later and 10 times the number of choices and I don't sell a dozen of any one item in that category- too much choice is, generally speaking, a bad idea for "volume sales" to the general public- and I suspect Crosman is starting to figure this out and trying to determine how they can define their lineup more appropriately and (still) sell large volumes of product. A good comparison is Daisy- they had not produced any new anything for years up until recently (new Winchester-branded products) and still managed to stay afloat selling mainly what people believe was Red Ryders and Bucks and very little else for at least the last few years. |

I think about Crosman doing away with the Sheridan Silver/ Blue Streak line and I have to wonder, Do they not get it? In my mind they don't sell a bunch of them for two reasons; first, it's a .20 cal. not a bad thing but .20 cal just isn't as popular as .177 or .22 cal and second the damn things last forever, again not a bad thing. Unless you are a bean counter and all you care about is numbers and not that you are selling a quality product that people buy and hand down to their children or grand children. They seem to be more worried about selling lots of different air guns than selling a quality air gun.
Daisy is just as confused as Crosman in my opinion. They brought out the Winchester branded M 14, which I had a chance to shoot and was very impressed with. It is very accurate with BB's or Pellets and a pretty good copy of the rifle it is modeled after. The people at Daisy know nothing about this rifle, it has a threaded hole where the scope mount goes, just like the real deal powder burner. A call to Daisy to ask if they sell a scope mount and the "engineer" says the rifle isn't set up to have a scope mounted on it. So I took a chance and ordered an M 14 scope mount on line and it bolted right up. So the "engineer" knows very little about the product the company he works for sells. Maybe if it was built "in house" instead of in China he would have known more?
It seems like Crosman has jumped in to the assault rifle trend with both feet. I have nothing against the assault rifle look, not my cup of tea but they seem to have forgotten their roots, good quality pumpers and CO2 rifles like the 1400 and the 160.
Okay my rant is done. |

| Yes an example is my old 400. It needs new seals but tge quality rivels the rest. It was well builtwith a great finish. Never messed up like new guns. I bet warrantys werent a huge deal back then cause they were built by some of the best craftsmen barr none. But id say quality wise a new 400 would cost oh say 350 n up in todays market |
