Proper HPA O-ring lubricant.

OK guys, I did a few searches and couldn’t find what I was looking for. Perhaps I just didn’t search well enough and I want to be safe !!

I know petroleum based lubes (like motor oil etc.) are a real no-no for HPA. What is OK for the O-rings in HPA tubes ??

I have a few silicone based O-ring lubricants like:
Dow 111
Dow 55

And other silicone based lubricants like:
Beeman chamber oil
Permatex silicone spray

Is silicone “anything” OK ??

The Dow 111 is what I have used on shipboard and industrial HP and LP air systems. If the Navy likes it I'll use it.

If you use the aerosol spray-on, give it plenty of time for the aerosol agent to evaporate, or better yet, spray it in a container, then apply to seals. The propellants are generally flammable and you don't want it trapped in the rubber of the o-ring and release once installed

Thanks ... that's also what I thought ... about the propellants that is. Just be sure to let everything "air out" real good ...

The container method sounds like the way to go !!

I was thinking of scrubbing (cleaning) the inside of my tube with a patch sprayed with aerosol to prevent (minimize) any possible rusting.
Then, after a good drying time and more dry patch wiping, assemble the unit with 111 or 55.
