THIS IS A Monthly, SHOOT EVERYONE WELLCOME

Target to download and print: June 1st > June 31 /2012

1)Print to full-size on an A4 or 8.5"x11" sheet of paper.
2) Shooting distance is 5m/16.4ft for pistols.
3) Shooting distance is 10m/32.8ft for rifles.
3a) The rules for shooting 5m or 10 m are that the distance from the target to the firing line should be 10m for rifle and 5m for pistol.
All shots, from whatever shooting position must be made with the competitor wholly behind the firing line but able to touch it.
Basically the shooter should be behind the line but the part of the gun not being held by the shooter can protrude past the line.
4) All targets to be shot standing
5) Any sighting device may be used.
6) NO rests or steadying aids are allowed.
7) 16 shots total, 2 per Target. Max score is 160. Up to 5 sighting/practice shots not on the clock using the Green dot
8) 15 minutes total time (take whatever amount of time for each shot you like, but at 15 minutes-stop!).
9) Scoring is 10 for RED, 8 for GREEN. 6 for GRAY and 4 for WHITE. Only 2 shots per Target counts.
10) Entries need to be scanned or photographed and posted. Please list gun, pellet, sighting device and total time expended.
11) You can enter using both a pistol and a rifle as separate entries, only one entry for each, but all rules must be followed.
12) Score your own target. Winner and Runner-Up will be verified by board officials.
13) An honourable contest for sport- to lie or cheat, is the only real loser. Please keep it above-board!
14) Each competition runs from Thursday to Wednesday. Your entry must be posted in the forum no later than 23:00 GMT Wednesday.
15) These rules are for this week's shooting competition and may change for others

Please make sure that the blue border is visible on your entry, plus the green dot is 12mm diameter on A4 paper.

Al

Hi Al,

Looks good. Are the scores for green and grey mixed up?

Nice job Vitaly, that's set the bar pretty high. My shooting has gone all to hell for some reason, so I'm holding off shooting my entry until I get things back together again. I'll get one in before the end of the month whatever happens. Smile

Couldn't quite match that Vitaly, but here's my little nudge. Pardini K10, RWS Hobby, open stock iron sights, 8 minutes. Scored it at 132. Should have shot this yesterday, was a bit more stable. Today my mind's on what work I should still get done on a doublebass... distractions really mess me up. And these pale coloured targets are kind of weird too, after practicing so many thousands of shots on black circles. Good for keeping one flexible though I suppose. I notice a tendency to shoot worse towards the target edges.

Heh, it crossed my mind that Al might be running some strange experiment to see how we react to strange geometric shapes and odd colour combinations Smile

You read my mind. That's about what I was thinking as I struggled with the top and bottom bullseyes, that it might be part of building a database on shot bias in relation to geometry and proximity to boundaries. I my case the top and bottom were worse than average as I folded the paper at top and bottom to push it into my putty trap, in aid of getting clean holes.

Thank you Everhopeful! It is my second try, the first one was even better in the beginning, but the pistol run out of CO2 in the middle of the shooting session Evil or Very Mad So needed to start over with fresh powerlet. Next week-end will try rifle.
Gerard - very very good result, don't forget I use scope, I'm afraid even to think which score I could get with open sights
Question to Alstone - rules don't speak about caliber - 0.22 is acceptable? Rolling Eyes

Yes we allow .177 & .22. I know that a .22 hole is better but it is marginal, the thing is we make it as easy as possible for the majority of shooters to complete.

As for the geometric shapes and different colours that just for a bit of variety.

Al. Cool

And pumping is very easy Laughing .
10 pumps give 2 consecutive shots of 450 fps, perfectly fits this "two shots per target" exercise!

OK, here's my entry:

Crosman 2240-177
Crosman super match
Open sights
13 Minutes
Score: 140

For the record, I've shot this target several times since it was posted, mostly over-shooting the same paper for practice. This is the best of three attempts at shooting an entry, and it occurs to me that multiple attempts might be considered cheating. What do people think?

Well done, Everhopeful! Fantastic result with open sights. I will try open sights next monts (to be the last in the results table)
I think if whole target was shot in one session it is completely acceptable, no matter how many attempts it takes. Even if it's attempt #100 - you did it yourself with your hands and your airgun...
