Hello fellow AGH members,

This is the final mod--for now--of my Benjamin Trail NP I purchased about a week ago from a fellow air gunner. Today I received the GRT III trigger from CDT, and in what seemed like ten minutes, I had it installed and back together again. This had a lot to do with the simplicity of the Benji's trigger assembly, and of course, without the need of a compressor apparatus that you would need for a spring piston. The other had to do with a wonderful YouTube video I came across (link at bottom) where the individual was doing the same thing to a Benjamin Trail NP XL model; basically same ice cream, different flavor.

It has been pouring rain here most of the day, so I will have to wait to take it out tomorrow to really put it through its motions, but I did send a few pellets towards my indoor pellet trap in the basement. Let me tell you, this now has the draw of my Remington 22LR and after shot one I was grinning like the Cheshire Cat . We are not talking hair trigger here, but we are talking minimum pull length and almost no weight on draw; as it was @ 3.5lbs stock. I did adjust it out just a tad, but I love how it is.

It is simple, clean with crisp feel, while adding a dash of elegance with the gold aluminum skin which provides just enough contrast to the overall rifle to accentuate the whole package. Just squeezing the trigger after reassembly to ensure the action operated properly curled my toes, and despite my head cold, down to the cool musky basement we went.

Well, that's about it. My head is too stuffy now to really focus on typing much, but you get the gist. Below is the link to the YouTube video I mentioned, and albeit it covers the Benjamin Trail (wood stock), it is quite informative nonetheless.

This being my first Benji, I would add something as a note: If you have a newer modeled all-weather synthetic stock like mine, make sure when reassembling you set your two fore screws that mount the action to the stock. Although the Benji's synthetic is rigid compared to many, there is still a flex-factor and the rear screw is on a spring float that puts pressure downward against the stock. Like the video, front screws first (just set the teeth a screw or two), but unlike the video, alter between the rear and the side screws until you are almost there then you can go ahead and shore things up. This was my experience, but yours might be different.

Also, which the action is exposed, this is a good time to lube up the working bits.

My last note, when my nephew (age 13) saw the mod he smiled, but he added after handing it back to me, "You took the ninja out of it."

To this I simply smiled and nodded as i placed her on the workbench. He was right and wrong at the same time: Yes, she's not black-on-black like a ninja in the night any longer...now she's a ninja in the night with a bit of class.

Ok, time for a hot shower and more cold medicine and tomorrow, re-sighting the scope and then hopefully some shooting time.

You'll like it.
That was the first thing I did to my Trail NP All Weather, .22 cal.
I can't stand bad triggers on springers. They are challenging enough by their very nature.

I would like to put one in my Benjamin Regal NP as the trigger is pretty
bad for an airgun. Does it make it in to a two stage trigger or
just a better single stage?

A true two-stage - there is an actual geometry shift with full sear engagement. Lighter, too - the design allows one factory spring to be removed.

Wait. Now i'm going crosseyeded.

The Titan isn't on that list, on the tuna website. The Trail is several times, no Titan. Seems to be on AoA. That alert does imply it may or may not work, however.

So far, it's been shooting top notch, even had my brother-in-law and 13 year old nephew out with it yesterday and went through nearly a 500ct tin of pellets. The Benji's stock wasn't bad, at least it was metal, but man this surely changed things. I have GRT's on my other rifles, but I am beyond impressed on this one.

It was a bit scary at first; how short the trigger pull was.

all crosman and gamos benefit hugely from grt triggers. when i had crosman they all had them and my tupperware gamo big cat has 1 . makes shootin then differ like night n day . now get out there and get some nice tight groups sir Very Happy
