for the rig I wanna buy when I get home. Just browsing around the website bored, really. These are the best rated cheapest scopes that don't have lame illuminated or duplex reticles.

I thought Hawke was the better company, but the Airforce has a lot more good reviews.

I have the Airmax 4-12 x 40 AO EV and it is a wonderfully clear scope which is due to the EV lens system, it has been used on both Co2 guns and my AA Tx200 springer and performs excellently.

All the scopes mentioned are made by the same group of 'companies' in China- but CenterPoint has a Lifetime warranty and direct-to-consumer support in the US (as in, they will swap the scope without a hassle from their factory in New York). The scope above is a great unit and has had very few issues (i.e. warranty) on scores of units out there that I am aware of personally.

The hindrance, Erik, is that stupid illuminated reticle system. I've had them before and don't care for it.

The solution is to simply take the batteries out/not turn it on. The illumination is projected onto the reticle- not part of it- so the optics quality is not affected by the presence of the illumination parts.

Just my $.02 worth, but I have the same scope Eric linked to (CenterPoint 4-16x40) on my target rifle, and love it! Bright, crystal clear optics, no problems whatsoever.

Like you Toadmyster223, I'm not a big fan of illuminated reticles either, so, as Eric said, I just simply don't turn it on. Just because it's there (illumination), doesn't mean you HAVE to use it! Wink

Not saying it is, but if cost is a factor in your decision, the CenterPoint is cheaper too! Thumb Up!

I've got one with the system, and I've got one without it, and Yes, obviously, I don't turn it on. I feel like I get a clearer, maybe bigger picture with the old-fashioned one. Anyway, this gun is totally going to be a splurge anyway, (I do plan on buying a Hill pump if it means I have to finance my teeth away) and a 30 or 40 dollars here or there isn't going to hurt. Back when I bought that illuminated scope, I first spent literal hours looking for a scope in my price range that didn't have that feature, and could not find a good one. I am super happy the market now accommodates what I wanted then.

I'm selling a mountain bike that I'm hoping to get at least 800 dollars out of (shooting for 900) and have a huge stock of powder burners I'm going to sort through in the midst of our current price spike thereof... I don't want a super expensive british gun, but I do plan on having a -very- sweet marauder Mr. Green
