Anybody here shoot this rifle ? If so, how do you like it? I'm presently using a Winchester 1000X .177 and would like to move up to a .22 , any opinions ? thanks

Nitro Venom has a pleasant shot cycle like other Crosman NP rifles based on B18/19 platform (Trail, Trail AW, Titan, etc). The problem with these rifles is the crappy barrel lock up mechanism. Some work great, others are OK, and there are a large number that are crap. My first Crosman B18/19 rifle had such a loose barrel lockup that it basically cracked open just gently resting the forearm on my open palm. A heavy bump opened it completely. Since it was my first full sized rifle in 35 years, I paid to send it back to Crosman for replacement. Then I got sucked in by forums, like this one, and began learning about this platform and others. I now have 5 of the B18/19 rifles, and I know how to fix the breach lockup problem. to cut a long story short, my venom took wayyyy more work to fix the breach locup than any of the others. I went through 3 alive jams, 2 more springs, brass pivot washers, new breach seal, breach seal shims, and much machining and grinding before I came upon a combination of fit, angle, spring force, and seal spacing that worked. Now, don;t be fooled that this is totally due to this one being a Venom, but form what I have read the QC and cost trimming left the Venom line at the lower end of out of the box quality.

Thank you for that info. Now I'm going to have to rethink my purchase. I was trying to stay under $200 but I'm leary of Chinese made products. Any suggestions on a better rifle ? Thanks

You really don't have any choice below $200.00- everything at that point is made in China. If you go a bit above $200.00 you can look at a Diana (RWS) 34.

It seems Dukemeister had an inordinate number of issues with his Venom, but this is not necessarily the norm.

i was gonna recommend a d-34 , but got beat to the draw. i had a titan and it went back to walmart as well as a crosman quest . like you im very leary of chinese guns ,or anything from china . dont get me wrong some have chinese stuff and love them , but a diana is ready to go from the first shot right out of the box. but make sure and clean the barrel before you fire the first shot . thick shipping grease in the barrel and who knows what grit made its way into it while it was on a ship . but congrats for getting a diana . i have 2 -34's ,a 460,a 54 and a 5g pistol . none of my dianas are for sale but i do have a gamo big cat id part with fast if my daughter didnt lay claim on it

I have a nitro venom i'm trying to get rid of. I've shot about 1000 rounds out of it and its got very few marks from use. Also have the grt 3 trigger installed. I'm willing to sell it for $100 plus shipping if you're interested.. send me a PM if interested.. will supply photos upon request.

i know this is the wrong section for selling, but just puttin it out there

edit: nvm, congrats on the 34!
