I must be getting twitchy in my old age. It took me 24 shots to break 10 toothpicks. (CZ Slavia 631 w/BSA AO 4X32 at 10m from a rest, using 8.2 grain RWS Meisterkugeln's.)

Try it sometime.

Are they taped to the face of a box?

Yes - I'm not nearly good enough to hit moving toothpicks.

Another point - use the hardwood toothpicks. It takes several solid hits in the same place to get the bamboo ones to break.

Sorry to rend the fabric of your universe, but there's more: flat vs. round. It also helps to use wadcutter pellets instead of domed. The wadcutters (like the Meisterkugeln's) have a "hammer" effect, while the domed ones just move the toothpick instead of smashing it.

Hmmm.....minty fresh targets. I'll have to think on that one for a while.

Yup, nothing tastes better than a bit of woody mint mixed with lead residue...

Note: Do not attempt this at home, you may suffer possible brain damage, kidney failure and other nasty stuffs...
