Went gopher hunting today, got about a dozen or so.... but I took along my .25 cal 2260 HPA conversion to try it out on the Yellow-Bellied Marmots that are digging up the ranch.... Compared to the .22 cal I use on the gophers, it is devastating on the larger critters.... I got five adults and three kits.... the kits are larger than the Columbia Ground Squirrels I've been shooting.... and the adults are about 2 feet long with tail....
The .22 is plenty of power to kill the adults, but they always seem to make their burrow.... On the other hand, a headshot with the .25 cal pretty much anchors them, knocking them head over heels.... The big one in the photo of the gun weighed about 10-15 lbs.... The rifle puts out about 46 FPE.... and still delivers 31-32 FPE at 50-55 yards which is the range I was shooting at.... I'm VERY pleased with my first hunt with the .25 cal....

Way to go Bob. You show those rodents why you built it
I like that .25, looks simple but does a really effective job. What's the report like when it reaches the sweet spot? |

Dang you Bob! I want to get my big bores going. I got the barrels... but I won't be able to start my .25 & .308 cal projects till Winter
I nailed two of them yellow belly critters out at the tree farm in Payette, ID last Monday with my Ruger. One head shot and one lung shot between a pile of old fence boards @ 60 yards.

| The one on the right is bigger than the average over weight house cat. |
