hey. im 18. mother bought me a pellet gun when i was like 14. i was only 14 so i didnt take care of nore learn to shoot accuratly. then i found it in closet one day. with minor pitting and discoleration(room closet got water leak) and ammo. i can hit a bottle cap from maybee 40 yards away idk if thats accurate for a pellet gun.

the gun: Remmington summit .177 cal. witha huge scope on it.

problems: gun is pitted. i have scope adjusted to the max ive tried reseating it. but the gun always shoots low past 20 yards.

is this a good gun?

Hi John, welcome to the forum

Yes the Remington is a fine gun but it sounds like yours may need some help.

A few things may be going on. I'll list them here from easy to more complicated

-the gun is just dried out and needs a shot of chamber lube (only use real chamber lube)
-The seals are worn out and need changing
-your barrel has some drop in it and may need to be corrected or simply changed
-If it always shot low then some shimming in your scope mounts should correct it

These are the most obvious causes that come to mind

Welcome to the forum, John.

I would say that a bottle cap at 40 yards is pretty good. Still, it really doesn't matter - there will always be better guns than yours, and worse too. What matters is if you like it - if you do then it's a good gun.

I second SMP's comments.
