Ah, thats no biggy. I did a simple version of that on my old marksman, just taped the whole safety in place. Not something I'd do for a child's gun, but I think us adults can get away with it :P

To answer the original question yes NP's are easier on the scopes than Springers, but that doesn't mean that you no longer need a scope specifically spec'd to air rifle standards.

I should go on to say that I don't believe any springer or Nitro Piston air rifle needs a variable scope. There is just too many variables (no pun intended) at play there. I use a fixed power 4X32 Leapers on all my guns as they hold up extremely well and rarely lose their zero. Every other brand and the brands that come on the guns out of the box have all failed on me.

I have a couple Gamo Big Cat 1200 Springers and one Benji Trail NP all of them .177. With the Trail NP I can hit a quarter at 105 feet 4 out of 5 shots with the errant shot barely being outside the target. This rifle I hold more like a traditional firearm tight into my shoulder and steady until I pull the trigger (which isn't modded on any of my guns btw)

The Big Cats on the same target hits about 50% of the time and I have to use an artillery hold to achieve any type of accuracy at all.

Having said that the Big Cats shoot at a much higher velocity and much further than the Trail NP which doesn't shoot anywhere close to the velocity rating they put in the literature. In fact for humane reasons I cannot even bring myself to hunt ground squirrels with the Trail NP and only keep it around for paper practice as it takes more effort to sell it than it is worth to me

I have a Hatsan Dominator 200S on the way to me as I type I will post up results once I have some pellets through it.
