Calif. I keep seeing posts about "airgun scopes" and non airgun scopes being damaged by recoil. What makes an airgun scope different? To me, it seems like ALL airguns have very little recoil compared to, say, my 30-06, and the scope on it dosen't shoot loose or get damaged from repeated heavy recoil. Is there something different about airgun recoil that would damage a (relatively) expensive scope, should I choose to use it on my airgun? I understand about the differances in range; most airguns perform best at under 50 yards, but many of them come with scopes that are promptly changed, or never even mounted, which seems like a waste. Airgun scopes are designed for it.... with reinforcing rings on both sides of the lenses and internal elements.... So, would this also hold true for gas piston powered airguns as well, regarding the double recoil? I got my first gas powered airgun five weeks ago, a Crosman Titan low velosity .22, and became an instant convert. At $99, I couldn't pass it up. (But honey, it was on SALE!) I've smacked it off things pretty clumsily and it never hurt the zero, several times I "knew" it was gonna be ruined and it was fine.
