i just got a leapers 4-16x50 ir mil dot scope i got it all mounted up caint get the scope zero in . i can get the side bys side right but i run out of adjustment up and down im shooting about 1.5 foot low and no more adjustment. now i had centerpoint 3-9x40 mil dot scope and never had problems. i did have to use high mounts instead of the stock 1s but i dont think thats my problem because i threw the centerpoint back on it with the high rings and had it zeroed in about 3 shots so am i doing something wrong or is the scope messed up. like i said t does adjust but it just dosent give me enough

Shim the bottom of the rear ring under the scope tube to see if you can adjust it in- electrical tape usually works reasonably well.

You don't have to but optically centering the elevation knob is easy. Max it out and count how many clicks til you max it out the other way, then go back half that number. It will help take tension off the springs inside from being pulled so far one way

I have used a method that I got off a forum. To centre the scope press the objective against a mirror then dial it in until the reflected crosshairs line up with the ones you see in the scope. It has worked for me.
