Just received this red dot yesterday and I'm more than happy with my investment. Not the clearest dot, it's a little fuzzy but for the $55 US dollars I paid it great. The green dot option is very bright even at its lowest setting but I bought this model mainly for its release system and it's size and weight.
Using the low profile mount it fits like a dream on the Alecto pistol with about 3 to 4 inch behind the red dot for quality hand placement when pumping. It does add some weight to the pistol but it's been worth the increase in accuracy over the irons. The turrets have a nice locking system to assure nothing moves when you don't won't it to.
I have zeroed the sight and removed it a few times and it seems to always hit its target every time I remount it.
If I had to rate this dot sight I'd give it an 8 out of 10 for an affordable red dot. |

| How is it for parallax error - does the dot move around as you move your head (with the gun held still)? |

At the moment I'm only shooting freehand, so the gun is constantly moving to some degree. Ill have to make up a shooting bench one of these days and get the bipod out and do some testing. It sure has made my groups 3or4 times smaller!
I still don't totally understand this parallax error thing! |

not finding this parallax error all that bad, it does get worse when i try and concentrate too much on the sight window and not my target. i shot vertical archery for years and my three power lens had a very small red dot(paint) on it, so my eye is accustomed to the whole floating dot. i can shot some very tight groups at 10yards,when i have my technique all zoned in.
just starting to learn this parallax error thing! now do all types of pistol sighting systems have this issue? it would make sense to me since your head is able to free-float seperate of the sighting system, changing the angleat which the eye looks threw the sight.
never really did much pistol shooting growing up, played with my 357 crosman a little. got my alecto in december 2011 and just about to top 4000 rounds threw it, loving the challenges of pistols. |

Parallax exists is all optical sights
parallax error occurs when the optical sight is not focus adjusted precisely for the distance of the target.
This is where AO (adjustable objective) scopes are worth every penny.
If the optics are focused precisely on the target the light rays from the target cross precisely at the reticle and again at your retinae. Thus all three frames of reference are on a single plane and there is no parallax.
With an optic sight that is not focusable it will have a distance that is preset that is parallax free....say 30m. at any other distance the light rays will cross either/or bfore your reticle and after your eye. Thus the reticle and your eye are in two planes of reference and you will be able to see the reticle move in relation to the target by moving your eye

Just to throw it in, at one point-in-time a few years ago, it seemed Leapers was very "airgun friendly"- many of their scopes had a parallax adjustment feature, many were "springer rated" and of the red dots and pistol scopes they had, many were set for a 30-yard setup, not 100 like many others.
Problem is, as I've been seeing it, they have moved away from airguns and have been chasing the regular powderburner market (their "springer rated" statement, like many other company's as well, was always a bit dubious anyways) and many of their red dots and pistol scopes are now set at 100-yards, not 30. |

| AirGunEric what would be the down range affect of improper parallax adjustment, when using a red dot? Ive started shooting playing cards, aiming at the spades, diamonds etc and my accuracy seems to be exceptable for a guy with my experience with shooting pistols at 30 feet. |
