Just ordered the .22 cal Disco! What are your thoughts about adding a barrel band to it? From what I've read, it seems a good idea if hunting in the forest with it. Apparently, its a floating barrel, and could be damaged if it gets caught on something.

Where would one purchase a barrel band for this AR?

Golly, mine seems to come with a barrelband too. Also, googling Crosman barrelband can get you a long way if yours seems to have exploded during shipping.

Stuff broke down being shipped to me an awfull lot of time in the past. (Twice.)

I should have been a little more clear, sorry. I'm wondering if an additional barrel band, one set closer to the muzzle, would be a good idea. I read that the barrels on these things are "flimsy", and could easily be moved, knocking it out of alignment, effecting accuracy. I will use this gun primarily in the woods, and am wondering if anyone might have experience adding the additional band.

I actually do have two barrelbands on mine, but it was mostly for looks. When I bought my Disco I could hit cans consistantly at 50 yards, and I gotta admit I was quite suprised by that.

I had one barrelband laying around from my old 22xx projects that never went anywhere, and that turned out quite nice. Wink

From a barrel point of view. Having no point of contact or a single point of contact is desirable.

Multiple contact points set up chaotic harmonics in the tube unless they are positioned exactly. This takes pretty sophisticated equipment and loads of experience to try and cancel out a harmonic.

A little experiment you can see for yourself. Take a piece of spring wire and hold one end in your fingers. Boing the free end to make it vibrate. Then using your free hand pinch the wire at the base with two fingers and move them along the length of the wire.

Watch what happens to the vibrations. They will go left to right then round and round, then up and down....That's the harmonic moving in and out of sinus and your barrel does the same thing

I have a Marauder in .22 and it is laser accurate...If there was a barrel problem in the past, then either Crosman dealt with it, or I just lucked up and got a good one...Love mine...
