about how many rounds would you expect it to take before the barrel is properly seasoned?

Well there are as many theories as there are lines on your hand but...

The basic idea is shoot a hundred, push a felt through, shoot 200 and push a felt through, shoot 400...and so on. Doubling until you hit about 2000 rds

Some will say it is beneficial to use VFG Superintensive felts to shave off the microscopic hills so they are level with the microscopic valleys sooner.

Personally I use the VFG superintensive because the barrel finish does look good. But you would need an electron borescope to validate that

What your trying to achieve is filling in the pores and nooks with worked lead. The POI will gradually shift Once process is completed the barrel shouldn't need anything more than a plain felt every few thousand to wipe out some accumulated lube mixed with lead particles

The airsoft rifle and parts from McMaster-Carr have some in today!

Hopefully going to work on modifying the paintball marker body this weekend!

Just wanted to let you guys know that I haven't given up on this thing yet!
Ordered some more parts from McMaster-Carr like a receiver block and some air routing stuff, and I have threaded the breech end of the .22 cal barrel that I have so I can screw it into the block once I get it cut down, drilled, and tapped.

I'm thinking that by doing it this way, I can remove the need for those little air transfer tubes that need to be sealed with orings or gaskets and can occasionally leak. Just screw this in with loctite to make an airtight seal, drill a hole in the receiver block that meets up with the air port in the barrel, and then attach the hole in the block to the valve hole in the paintball marker body.

Just got another very important piece for the build
1' length of 6061 hexagonal aluminum measuring 1 1/4" across the flats

Won't be using the entire block for the receiver block, probably use about a 3" length

Persistence IS a requirement Smile

...there are a LOT of pieces in an airgun that need to work together for success...have you drawn up any sort of plans...to scale?

If not, I'll suggest you do so before proceeding further...might save you some grief/time/money/etc. once you start fitting pieces.

This is more of a proof of concept build
If this works, then I'll be moving on to a .25cal version that I will put into the airsoft body, and a .177cal sub 12 ft lb version that may or may not be in a stock.

While measuring at this stage would still probably be very helpful, I am just going to go with that I think is right and will work
Will definitely be measuring for the .25cal version if this is a success
