Here is the typical marketing crap:
“The amount of total work required to pump has been reduced by up to 39% and the force required for each individual stroke is more consistent,” he said.
This means absolutely nothing as there is no reference standard for pumping effort. Furthermore "up to 39 percent" could be anywhere from 0% to a MAXIMUM of 39% of an undefined value, therefore meaningless.
What is needed is something durable. |

| When I asked Crosman about this pump recently- they were attempting to set-up a supplier. They were quite clear (accurately or not I can't say) that this pump was not going to be coming from the same place as the last/other Benjamin pump. |

The only way I can see to reduce the number of strokes is to enlarge the ID of the air channel in the shaft of the pump, so more air is there for compression at the end of each stroke. As well as enlarging the size of the valve so more air can pass thru easier and faster on each stroke. It would take some engineering, but its doable.
I don't think too many people have too much issue with the force required to use a hand pump to charge their gun, but have more issue with having to pump up to 150 strokes to get to a working fill pressure. |

There is the issue. The only way to reduce the total operator work required is to improve the efficiency of the pump. Like a pulley system, the force is reduced but the distance you have to pull the rope increases proportionally. Same with the pump, force is low,but the number of strokes is large. If you increase the diameter of the cylinder, the force goes up...yes, number of strokes goes down but the average man cannot exert the force required to pump so it's a wash. Who knows, maybe these new pumps will be ergonomically better and less tiring than others on the market. |

Exactly. I can get winded doing 150 bends without the pump handle in my hand. Still, I don't mind pumping the guns up. Prolly the easiest work I've done on the last 25 years, but the pay stinks. The Sam Yang is a bit too much work for more than ocassional shooting though. |

I doubt that it will decrease the number of pumps, it will simply decrease the amount of effort needed due to the hinged apparatus.
But does this or the other pumps used by you guys fill the gun as you push and pull the handle? The pump for my inflatable matress I use for camping fills as you push down and as you pull up. Double the fill for your efforts. |

| Most hand pumps on the market these days are bi-directional compression. If only there was a way to mod a shoebox compressor so it doesn't need to piggy back off of a weaker unit. |
