Ive been doing some pretty extensive research on all the break barrel models. There seems to the be the low end of Crosman Titian or Venom along with the Benjamin NP sold at places like Walmart. Then there is the Remmington NPSS, Walther Talon/falcon(added after the fact) and Benjamin XL/Trail models with a few models inbetween. What Im looking for is a accurate, fun, reliable, and reasonably quiet with minimal mods necessary save maybe a GRT III shooter in .22 to possibly grab if I dont want to lug the .25 marauder out for a day in the field.

I would say just about all of the Crosman/Benjamin NP's are just about the same internally. The only reason the price increases/decreases is because of the External Features.

As for the GRT III Trigger. I honestly dont have much of a problem with Crosman's Triggers. However, some people can't stand them. The majority of the old farts on AirgunHome Laughing

will tell you it is a must, However, $100 is a lot of money for a Trigger you could just adapt to.

GRT III's are only 30ish shipped. I may just plunk it down on the Benjamin they have at Walmart then and hope I get a good one.

I'm with you SMP, if I were to purchase one the trigger would get swapped out. Some knucklehead kid had one out of the box at walmart yesterday. After the kid cocks it, dry fires and then carelessly put it on the shelf I took a look at it. It's a far cry from my marauder in construction and after a hunting trip with it this morning I doubt Ill spend for one. I may save up and get a discovery in .22, shroud it and have it for a 'lite' rig.

Hey Jr would you believe a 35 yr old man has to do the same thing? I had to collect cans, scrap metal, save 'lunch money', sell other toys and funnel funds to get my marauder and pump. It never ends...

The crosman nitro piston series (venom, venom dusk, trail np"s) are far superior to spring break barrels. Note: the 3x39x32 scope is really an AO; please see my entry under nitro venom.

I had purchased the crosman phantom and although it's OK the nitro venom, dusk, and trail NP are far superior on all counts. All air gun maufactureers will be going with this technology as soon as they can because of manufacturing costs and no springer can match the performance. Try one and you will see what I mean.

Ive had a chance recently to at least hold a few of these models. Perhaps its just the notion that I am anti Chinese made items, but I really seemed to love the hold and balance of the Remington NPSS the most. The Benjamin Titian and Trail didnt seem to have much difference in them on the surface aside from stock(both "wood"). The Crosman Venom NP has that mammoth stock with grooves which I didnt really care for. There seems to be a new model out now, the Remington Vantage NP which doesnt seem to that much different than the titian(crosman or benjamin). It's price point is 149 and seems to be just a 1200 vantage with a NP. Just observations as there is a nagging I cant seem to kick that I want one of these and would find it a joy to shoot when I dont want to drag the .25 Marauder out or am limited to a smaller caliber.
