First I reshaped it, then I put a few coats of ebony and Red Oak stain and then finished with a few coats of tung oil. In about twenty days of drying I'll beez wax the stock and be done. It feels much better and has a natural feel compared to the stock finish, it also won't chip! _________________ Close doesn't cut it! In Fishing or Shooting! Yes I removed that hideous checkering, I wouldn't mind some hand checkering but I didn't like the look or feel of the CNC checkering. Rod   Posted: Wed Jul 20, 2011 10:33 pm 69Hotrod69 Veteran Member Joined: 09 Aug 2010 Posts: 135 Location: San Diego CA Forgot to Mention I cut 3.5" off forearm and tappered it about 5/16 inch at nose I then took 1/4 off butt for a shorter pull, removed the right hand cheek swell and cupped the remaining cheek rest. I also put a lot of work into the grip contour so my fingers actually have room to wrap around the grip (slightly). It shoulders quickly and comfortably. I set it up for turkey and Quail Hunting. Its the same one I tuned for 19 shots at 40FPE. I did the shaping with a 4" grinder and 36 grit disc then hand shaped with 80, then 120, finished with 220. _________________ Close doesn't cut it! As does not caring about the grip cap. It's epoxy'd on and very much a 1 shot deal... Looks good. Yes Sir,Jasco is quick to remove finishes....even quicker on the plastic bits..
