Not only do I shoot pellets with air guns, I also shoot them in some of my rifles. Here are a few examples: CUSTOM MADE ADAPTER FOR 22 HORNET USING LARGE PISTOL OR RIFLE PRIMER A REAL BLAST OUT OF MY CONTENDER CUSTOM MADE ADAPTERS FOR 223 REMINGTON USING LARGE PISTOL OR RIFLE PRIMER AND SHOTGUN PRIMERS CASES HAVE BEEN MODIFIED FOR SHOTGUN PRIMERS CUSTOM MADE ADAPTERS FOR 22-250 REMINGTON USING SHOTGUN PRIMERS CASES HAVE BEEN MODIFIED FOR SHOTGUN PRIMERS CUSTOM MADE ADAPTER FOR 257 ROBERTS USING SHOTGUN PRIMERS I also have a few adapters for shooting 177 pellets in my handguns. Here is an example: CONVERT-A-PELL 177 IN THE 45ACP I'd like to converse with anyone else using these type of devices. I know it's a major stretch, but air gun pellets are what are being shot. However, if this is too far out of the group focus, and the moderators chose to delete it, I'll understand. What say you? All pellet shooting chamber adapters were made to my order by Ace Dube of MCA Sports in Anchorage. http://www.mcace.com/ (Call him on the weekend, he doesn't understand email) (907) 248-4913 MCA offers a long line of chamber adapters for center & rimfire guns. I have 40 assorted adapters and barrel inserts in my collection... Most from MCA. Sportsman's Guide recently advertised a simular adapter too. I've just recently upgraded to a new chronograph, (my 20+ year old Model 33 with the 10 ft screen spacing gave uneven results with pellets), and will by doing a full Velocity evaluation of all my adapters soon. Accuracy is variable. Consider that I am driving a skirted pellet down a barrel designed to stabilize a much longer bullet at considerably higher speed. Some guns group well, (My 22 Hornet Contender) while others, (My Ruger N0.1 22-250) not so well. Best results are with the heaviest pellets. Also, filling the area between the head and the skirt with soft (Home Made... 'Peanut Butter' viscosity) bullet lube helps when using shotgun primers for power. http://convert-a-pell.com/ My Convert-a-pell sets (9mm, 44 Mag, & 45 ACP) use a brass barrel insert that is properly rifled for pellets. The only problem is that they are held in place by rubber "O" rings. Accuracy is fair. I mainly use them for trigger control practice, shooting over my pool table into a 22 bullet trap. Any bad habits show up very quickly. Having very low report, (I still wear a headet) virtually no recoil, and still making holes in a target, I can really work on my off hand shooting skills. Anyway, its a fun way to burn up old odd lot or unidentified primers. If you are interested, I'll be glad to report the results of my Accuracy / Velocity tests later. And of course, I need to state that I am no way connected with any firm mentioned in this post, except to be a satisfied customer. Very cool. There were the old Zimmerstutzen rifles and the Flobert rimfires that used a primer to launch a BB. Today we have the .22 rimfire CB and BB caps, and also the Aguila .22 rimfire Colibris. I love it! That is one of the most unique ideas I've ever seen with gun conversion. And that most certainly fits in with air guns. Air is a mixture of gases. In a typical air gun, we compress the air (gas) and the release it quickly. When your primers are ignited, they produce a quickly-expanding gas that pushes the pellet through and out of the barrel.
