Hey whats going on everyone? Newbie here and newbie to springers! No newbie to rifles but the springer world is all new to me:)...I picked up a Beeman r9 locally from a guy (used) and the gun has been awesome. Its a .20 cal and when I bought it I got a few tins of beeman crow magnum pellets with it.

I set a small zeroing target @ 25 yards and within a few 5 shot strings I was Very impressed!...Anyhow, it took me just a few sessions to go through the tins I had...this gun was way more capable of shooting hole through hole than I was....

anyhow...I was running low on pellets so I found the Straight shooters website and ordered up there variety pack and a few more tins of the .20 crow mags...to make a long story short...this morning I opened up the first tin and attempted to fire some groups...

My group size went from probably a 1/2" (with the old pellets) to 1 1/2" at 25 yards with the new pellets...(same brand)???? After several attempts I loaded up what I had left of the old tin and the groups went back to what they were before??????.....Did I get a bad tin of pellets or what????....

Also...this rifle has the bushnell banner 4-12 scope that came originally as the combo package I believe...during my time of trying to figure out WTF was going on, I cracked the breach to load another pellet and lost my grip on the barrell...

it snapped back shut...when I went to take my next shot my POI was about 3-4 inches high of where I was aiming????I confirmed it with 4 more shots! I had to bring my elevation 20+ clicks down to get it back on target! Anyone had anything like that ever happen?

My scope seems nice and tight but it definitely lost its zero when that happened....Sorry for the long post but im new to the springers...any input would be great!...Thanks....Mike

Hi there Mike, welcome aboard!

The pellet issue sounds pretty weird. Have you tried any of the other boxes? Did you compare the pellets without putting them down your barrel?

About your barrel snapping shut: I think you bend your barrel upwards a bit. This doesn't have to be a problem, as you were able to adjust for it. It's just not recommended you do this a lot. Wink The guns are build sturdy so you shouldn't be able to destroy it THAT easily.

Well I think I figured out the problem. I did a good cleaning of the gun last night and while taking a close look I noticed that the stock is cracked Shocked ...right behind the trigger guard, pretty much all the way acrossed the stock! I was reading that this can happen from springing the barrel...Urghhhhh...now I gotta find a replacement stock...im gonna call Beeman today and see what they have to say...thanks for the input!...

I don't mean to frighten you.... but I have heard of a similar incident bending the barrel as much as 3 inches.... Put a straight edge along the top of the breech block and check to make sure the barrel is still parallel to it.... A difference of 3" at 20 yards is only about 1/16" in the length of the barrel....

Thanks for the replies! Something definitely happened when that thing slammed shut! I was able to adjust the scope and get it back on target but it took ALOT of clicks! I figured the hard hit of the barrel slamming may have knocked the scope out of whack! I really hope that was the case. I will definitely try the straight edge and see what it looks like!...I pretty much wanna kick myself in the aRss! I havent had this gun long but ive been shooting it everyday and loving it..now its screwed up Embarassed ...I put a call into beeman to see about a new stock, waiting on a call back. Im curious to see what they get for one Shocked ...My r9 is the limited edition with the really cool bluish stock...I really hope I didnt bend the barell!...
