Hi.

I live in Brazil and I'm going to USA in September on vacation.
I'm planning to import an air rifle but I still have some doubts about the best choice.
My primary objective is Target Shooting, in a first moment casual, but after some practice I hope to start in competions.
I prefer the break barrel models.
And I have around $ 400 to spent with this.

I appreciate any help!

Thank in advance.
Gustavo

I've seen the Beeman R9 Elite Series Combo and I liked. The only problem is the price, around $550. In this combo is already included a mid-sized Bushnell 4-12x40AO scope. Is a good scope or maybe it´s better buy only the R9 and another scope separately?

What kind of target shooting...FT or 10m?
If you're thinking 10m paper punching there is none better than the Avanti (Daisy) 853c.
Springers in your price range are going to have way too much springer recoil to be effective 10m guns.

Benjamin discovery or marauder combo comes in around the $400.00 mark WITH the hand pump.

if i recall correctly i purchased my marauder for $399.00 as the 'combo'.

The main objective is FT.
Until now, I believe that Beeman R9 is the best choice for me.
The only problem is the price, around $550...

Then consider a Bam B26 or XS B26-2, which is a HW95 clone.

If I was going to spend that much money on a pellet gun I would go with a GAMO EXTREME HUNTER. Look it up,excellent reviews. It shoots 1300fps and is a .22 caliber pellet gun! I would like to have it but Id rather invest in a new .22 rimfire! Good Luck making a good choice. Theres alot of good air rifles out there. I would google up air rifle competitions and see what kind of pellet rifles the pros are shooting.

The Weihrauch HW-95 sells for $459.00 in BC Canada.... plus $29.00 shipping to the USA....

http://www.specialtyshootingsportsoutdoors.com/store/air-gun/rifles/weihrauch/weihrauch-hw95-luxus-177cal/prod_130.html

For FT use, the .177 is the preferred gun.... more velocity and a smaller pellet to fit through those 1/4" holes....

If you haven't got your heart set on a springer then I would recommend a Benjamin-Sheridan (Crosman) Discovery in .177 cal.... They are a PCP that comes with a pump and are not that difficult to fill because you only have to pump them to 2000 psi.... Put a velocity adjuster on it and use heavy round nose pellets (10-10.6 gr.) and tune it for the velocity you need to meet the regulations for FT in your country.... In Canada and the USA the limit is 20 FPE.... In England and for International FT the limit is 12 FPE....

The advantage of the PCP is that you won't have to learn a special "hold" like you will with a springer.... They are very accurate without having to dedicate your life to learning how to shoot your particular gun.... They are also not hard on scopes like a springer can be....

If you are going to shoot FT, you will probably want a much better scope than anything you can get in a "combo" deal anyway.... For the "Hunter" class in Canada we have a 16X limit.... For the open classes, most shooters use a scope that goes up to at least 32X (or 40X or 50X) with a big objective lense so that they can use the adjustable objective as a range finder.... Most FT shooters spend about the same amount of money on a scope as they do on their rifle....
