I recently polished and lubed my Benji Classic (B19 platform) and when sighting down the receiver I noticed a lateral misalignment of the barrel and receiver, illustrated here:
Definitely not acceptable, so I disassembled and reassembled being careful not to tighten the barrel pivot too much and it now looks better. Anyone encounter this before? I'm thinking of replacing the plastic washers with brass ones, a bit thicker to avoid this. |

Yes right after I tried my phantom with scope I had some issues with the POI shifting. It would shot a number of shots into a group the suddenly shift and shoot a number of shots into a new group then shift again.
I can't say for sure that it was the plastic washers but the problem went away after I replaced them with metal and detailed the contact area at the pivot. |

I think then I will replace the plastic washers with brass or steel, maybe brass with a good dose of moly. thing is the angle was consistent, it really wasn't loose, just cock-eyed.
On a related note, when I was working on my Quest, I couldn't separate the barrel from the receiver, it was as if the breach bushing tube (part #21 ) was recessed into the receiver forks... I tried gentle persuasion, but it wasn't moving so I just put the bolt back and let her be. If I'm going to change the plastic washers on my Classic I'd just as soon do my Quest too. Any ideas as to why the barrel wouldn't come free of the forks? I would have tried pushing on the bushing but it's only accessible on the unthreaded (head side) of the breach bolt. Can't see it through the threaded side... |

| Yup I just had the same issue about 30 minutes ago while tuning my CO's gun. There was a significant burr on the edge of the pivot hole. I managed to pry it across but it put a dandy gouge in the plastic washer |

Hey, SMP,
Would you describe the method of persuasion used, as I apprantly have the same issue? Also where is the burr, is it head side or thread side on the forks? |

Hi Dukemeister
The burr was on the thread side. I would post a pic but I'm at work and big brother wont let me look at or upload pics to this site. I keep meaning to ask Eric if there is something specific on here that may be tripping our bot
I used what I know as a "catspaw" also known as a mechanics prybar. It is basically an inch long rocker shoe at one end of a bar. I picked mine up at Princess auto.
It is the smallest size and it will fit between the forks and apply force smoothly to the pivot area. the link shoes a photo of the pry bar

The fact you can even visit here means your employer's filter is not "normal"- almost every employer-filtered internet access screens out "guns", "firearms" etc.
As to why you can access the forum at work, but not post pictures- that is an odd one. It may not be "us" but the photo site- "postimage.org" that is being filtered- which should mean you could use something else- i.e. photobucket or the like- assuming other photo services aren't also filtered out. |

OK, thanks, I have one of those somewhere in the morass. Scored a deal at True Value Hardware store on a 10 piece prybar kit many years ago while I was doing renos. I'll go look for it. |
