I bought a new Daisy model #25 BB gun because when I was a kid (5 decades ago) I shot a barrowed one and it was powerful and accurate and I wanted a new one.
It is a fine rifle but it is/was anything but accurate, it left big 12" shotgun paterns at 15 ft. but why?
To make a long story short I discovered that the barrel tube was crowned lopsided on the front end.
The barrel tube is easy to remove and is the same on both ends, it looks just like a straw.
The rear end of the tube was crowned straight and true so I just flipped it end for end and put it back together and now it shoots roughly 1" groups at 15 ft.
Hope this helps you if you have the same problem. |

As a follow-up, I sent Daisy an email and told them of my experiance and they kindly sent me a new (tested) barrel assembly and a package of Avanti BB's which shoots very tight groups, sometimes in the 1/2" range at 5 meters = 16.4 ft.
It seems that barrel crowning, even on a BB gun can make a very big difference. |
