One of those tanks (the amazon link) is an 88 cubic INCH tank
the other (airhog) is 88 cubic FEET- as in about 152,000 cubic inches.
That is a rather significant size difference.
Beyond that- I would have to assume that the interior of a true SCBA tank has some sort of formally regulated cleaning methodology as it is, effectively, pretty much a "medical" gas tank of sorts, whereas a paintball tank is not. |

Eric,
Thanks... I read through those so fast I did not notice "feet" VS "inches" in the description. Yep, that woulde make a big difference in price. |

WHOA !!!
Paintball tanks are rated using the INSIDE VOLUME of the tank.... so an 88 ci tank filled to 4500 psi actually contains 4500/14.5 = 310 Bar times 88 ci = 27,280 ci divided by 1728 = 15.8 cubic feet at 1 Bar....
SCBA (and SCUBA) tanks are rated by the amount of air they hold AT ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE (ie 1 Bar).... so an 88 cu.ft. tank contains 88 cu. ft.... about 5.6 times as much air as an 88ci Paintball tank....

| Lovely- mix up the measurement systems used on virtually identical technology. Perhaps the 'paintball' people should have used the same rating system as the long-established diving-standards (!?!) |
