We just picked up a new quest from Scopes and Ammo today which is destined to be the Mrs' plinker (Once again I can't say enough about Erics awesome service, he got everything together while sick with the flu)

So It's already been stripped to pieces and degreased and ready for deburring and honing. I have both possible pistons and both possible springs in inventory.

Has anyone tried all the possible combinations and recorded the numbers.

A Quest 500 spring and Quest 1000 piston will get somewhere are 750fps, a Quest 500 spring missing a few extra coils would bring it down to around 680fps- but it might start getting pretty noisy internally. A Quest 500 vented piston and a Quest 1000 spring might net you 540-ish fps (can't prove that, however), A Quest 500 elongated piston and Quest 1000 spring would be around 560 or so. I am unaware of anyone ever trying to get in the 550-650range specifically, but it appears the best way would be to custom-shorten an elongated Quest 500 piston mid-way in length between its stock length and that of the Quest 1000.

He Lives !!!!

Thanks Eric, that's genius.

The lube tune is done and the first ten shots produced a ragged hole. It never ceases to amaze me how well these inexpensive guns perform with minimal effort.

The object I was going for was to achieve a stable velocity with heavier ammo, minimal recoil and very cockable. I went with 1000 piston and I think I will chop 2 coils.
