I'm going for accuracy and distance. I'll mostly be target shooting at a broad spectrum of ranges. Please offer your opinions on these guns, good or bad. Any hints tips and suggestions are welcome. The NPSS's seem to be their own funny size- smaller tube than a SuperStreak, larger than a Genesis. As far as quality goes, are they both good in that area? From what I am seeing in reviews, it appears that they are good guns, but seems that you are ether going to get a good one (in most cases), but in some you get a very bad one, that needs to be replaced? One thing I was Thinking about is pellet weight. If you take the gun out of the equation, wouldn't it be better to have a heavier pellet at the same FPS? Say for example the Benjamin can fire a 10g pellet at 1000 FPS and the Remington fires a 7g pellet at 1000 FPS, though they're both traveling at the same speed the heavier one would have more resistance to wind than the lighter one? What pellets have you found to work the best? Hi . I just picked up a Benjamin Trail XL NP1100 . To be honest with you , if i knew what the rifle was going to perform like , i would not have got it . If you read the hype about these guns , they tell you they are approx 70% quieter , lower recoil than a springer , deadly accurate , a " Bear " to cock . Well , let me give you my impressions. Quieter , no way . Very loud " splat " type noise from pellet exiting the barrel . Low recoil !!!! Jumps higher than a hooked Rainbow trout when theshot goes off . Accurate !!! If an 8'' group at 35 yards is accurate , then the rifle is good . Bear to cock !!! I'm not a big person , to me , its the easiest gun i have to cock . Now , with that last statement in mind , maybe there is something wrong with my gun . I have a Chrony coming this week . I'm going to measure it against my Phantom 1000 and Benjamin Clasic ( this is an accurate ahrd hitting beast ) and see how it comes up . Meanwhile , if i where you , i would look at something else . Oh , onme more thing . The rifle , along with scope weighs in at 9lbs 9 oz's . It looks the part but , in my opinion , is not worth half the money i paid for it . I can hardly wait for the one I ordered to come in![/quote]Just came back from last series of " tests " before i send the gun back . At 50' , my Clasic put a hole through a 1 gallon metal fluid container . On the same container the Nitro junk just dented it . At 100' the Clasic put a hole in one side and split the metal but did not exit the back . The Nitro junk didn't even knock the empty tin over .
