Ok, I have a Crosman 2300s that I purchased about 2years ago. Shot it a bit <500 before having problems.

One evening the co2 cyl hung up and I just couldn't get it out. Long story short I can't leave well enough alone. After rap, tap, and exceedingly more beating I got it out.

Sweet now I can shoot more, .....

Wrong, now after the first shot on each cyl it empty's it completely.
I disassembled the gun and couldn't find anything amiss.

That has been quite a while ago, and I recently "found" it again while cleaning up a bit.

If I recall correctly I concluded it had to be in the valve that the cyl feeds into (PN 2300-122).

Would I be on the right track here? If so is this part interchangeable with the 2240? (I realize it is a different cal.)
What is a preferred parts distributor in the USA?

Or should I just order a valve and seal kit from Crosman and be done with it?

Thoughts, fellas????

Thanks,
JB

How do you mean one shot and the cylinder is empty? No leaking prior to the shot and then afterwards the caplet leaks, or it leaks as soon as you put the caplet in and you only have time to get one shot before it empties?

But yes, it sounds as though the solution would be to get a re-seal kit and a new valvestem (which also has a seal on it).

It does not leak on a fresh powerlet until initiating the first shot, then completely discharges.

Any ideas on interchangeability of 2240, and 2300 valves?
Thanks,
JB

I believe they are interchangeable (as in they will fit).... but I remember reading somewhere that the 2300 has internal volume restrictors.... possibly other differences as well.... Eric?....

Someone had taken a 2300 apart and done quite an extensive analysis of it. It wasn't you, Bob?

But yes, it had volume restrictors in it, but the basic parts were the same- seals and valvestem. I believe the spring may have been different. Look at the parts diagram to be sure: http://www.crosman.com/pdf/manuals/2300S-EVP.pdf

On a 22xx gun, the "first shot" is what pierces the caplet, so all the Co2 flowing out after that could be either the end seal or the valvestem. Based on how it apparently started, it seems likely the end seal may be toast.

It wasn't you, Eric?.... Shocked
I played with some volume restrictors in response to a post I thought you started.... maybe you were just commenting on it.... I think it had pics of the internals of both valves....

Yes, that was me (sorry, I had forgotten). I believe, however, the actual "expert" on the 2300 valve might be Doc Sharptail, whom I seem to recall did some more extensive experimenting (or maybe that was just with its trigger adjustment). Man, it sucks having a terrible memory!

Thanks guys, this was just what I needed. I didn't want to have to disassemble my valve to see what could be leaking, so that picture was worth a thousand words.

This leads me to believe that the base gasket for the powerlet is compromised. But will update as problem is diagnosed further.
