I had recently purchased a new Crosman 1377 pistol with intentions of modding it. I bought a 24" barrel from Crosman & also the steel breach kit.
The breech kit diagram showed a breech gasket which was not in the kit, nor did my new 1377 have a gasket. The pic showed it to be under the steel sleeve that joins the breech to the barrel. I went ahead & installed the kit without the gasket & ordered the gasket. Is this gasket something that is necessary & what type of gasket was it supposed to be?
As for the 24" barrel, I am not getting a good shot pattern at all. That's with 10 pumps .Should I see about getting it cut to maybe 18" ?
The gun is presently equipped with a skeleton shoulder stock & a 1389 pump arm. Other than perhaps a muzzle brake to improve it's looks, it looks pretty cool now. However, it shoots lousy. Any suggestion would sure be appreciated.. Thanks. |

| The gasket is square o ring, it may be in the tube. If it got lost, the transfer port won't be sealed, therefore shooting all over the place. Drape toilet paper over the transfer port area to see if air is escaping. Good luck |

That could be confusing- it is a round o-ring that is flat on two sides- more a seal than an "o-ring" really.
Apparently the 1377 in this case got it missed at the factory, or it fell out during disassembly and you didn't see it, PP.
As tkerrigan has indicated, get one and install it- you are likely losing alot of air causing the poor shot consistency.
Also, did you install a .22 cal 24" barrel or a .177 cal 24" barrel? |

Thanks for the reply.. The 24" barrel is a .177 cal. Crosman had said they were out of the .22cal barrels. I wonder if I might be able to install the seal without having to punch out the front roll pin? The pin can be a real chore to remove & reinstall.
I was very careful in disassembling the gun & did not see any gasket [seal].
However, I am not completely sure in the direction that the little steel sleeve goes. It has a long side & a short side. One has to look at it very closely in order to see it & there is no mention of its direction in either the manual or the schematic. ? |

The steel sleeve goes with the short end dow against the rubber seal....
You only need to remove the barrel and breech to replace the transfer port and seal.... and probably loosen the front barrel band clamp screw....

| Thanks Bob for that info. I understand that the seal is a O ring type with square edges. Wonder if I could substitute something else, maybe from a hardware store? Otherwise, I have to wait a week or so for one from Crosman |
