I remember a friend and I going to the Penn side of the river to buy an air gun. You could not get one in Trenton. yea i went out of state for mine .. i was gonna buy the gamo big cat but dicks asked me if i had a fire arms purchasing permit cause i lived in NJ so i went to wal mart and ended up gettin the phantom   Posted: Fri Oct 08, 2010 6:16 pm bhaenn Member Joined: 06 Oct 2010 Posts: 21 any tips for fine tuning a scope , had another very disapointing shot today should of been a kill shot but the poor squirrle lived, ive read alot of ppl do it at 50 yards im having issues on break barrel tuning 50 yards , i could just need more time to just get ust to it the ammo is crosman premuim hp's and i have crosman premuim pointed but they seem to fit a lil bit loser in barrel I watched acouple good videos to dial in scope but they all had gun stands and wernt break barrel and did them alot shorter then 50 yards is there a reason for this ?   Posted: Fri Oct 08, 2010 10:19 pm Korak Member Joined: 02 Oct 2010 Posts: 15 My experience with scopes is limited. That said, I would start no further than 20 yards then move back. My Phantom now has a red dot on it. Sighted dead on at thirty yards, I can hit a beer can at fifty. Tomorrow I will be puting a scope on my RWS-36. I'll see how it goes. At this time I ony have access to Crosman Pells. Accuracy is outstanding, IF I can keep a consistant hold. I'll work on the hold. I'm going to sight out to 60 yards today if I can. In its defense, it is probably more durable than wood, and its hollow design gave me easy access for adding weight, sound dampening material, and fittings for an adjustable cheek piece. On the other hand, with wood it's a lot easier to change the stock's geometry (here I'm thinking specifically about the grip angle and that goofy arch in the fore end). Yes I did read your thread about the g1 upgrades you did , it was pretty good reading , is yours a .22 or .177 , I'm thinking about possibly switching my barrel to a .22. It doesn't add much by the way of power either. .177 seems to be the optimum barrel for the powerplant. I can get 45 yards out easily. I do like having the heavier wooden stock on my storm. I might consider .22 for hunting, but hunting with airguns is not permitted in Minnesota (except for pests on your own property). I've got enough hardware to cover that already. I zero the G1 at 25 yards. It has sort of evolved into my "100 yard gun," so an exact zero isn't that important. Shooting at that range is more a game of reading the wind, and the wind is really variable where I shoot. A 25-yard zero gets me within the mil dots at 100 yards, and I use puffs of dust or leaf deflection (with the mil dots) to get on target. It's different every time I go out there.
