hello i just got a crosman phantom .177 cal from a walmart paid about 80 bucks didnt want to go to crazy with air rifle yet

i was wondering what threads i should check out that would be good to read ,reveiws of the gun, scopes and all , right now im in the middle of of zeroing in the scope its a centerpoint 2-7x32 seems like a decent scope but hope i didnt buy one that is not air gun rated or will fail from the recoil on the gun

any ammo reviews links would be cool to.

I got one from Pyramid Air a few weeks ago. I'm very happy with it. It is the first AR I have ever owned. I highly reccomend the GTR-III trigger, it makes a world of difference. I messed around with a couple of sights with mine. I have decided that for my uses, mostly plinking, that a red dot is the way to go. Sighted in at 30 yards I can hit a soda can offhand out to fifty yards.
My Phantom Chronoed an average 876fps with Crosman Premier HP, 7.9gr.

thnks for the fast help .. ive done a lil bit of searching after the post and it seems the trigger upgrade is a must for this gun ... and it is only 32 dollars , also read a thread where i can remove the front fiber optic considerng that as well,

other then that i didnt read much on acuracy and all that on this gun... it will be used mainly for squirrle control ... there eating threw my trash cans and all , living in the soffet.

ive tried searchin but with no luck ... took for ever just to find the trigger upgrade recomendation to ... guess im not ust to this search engine yet

dose anyone know if the centerpoint scope is air gun freindly tried searchin that also but no luck i ran about 50 pellets threw this gun so far maybe less.

my grouping is horrible but after searchin to improve that i found out that i was holding the gun wrong ... i was holding it like it was a regular rifle, then read about the alltilery hold havent tried it yet just got done work hopeing to improve my grouping , after finishing dialing the scope in at 50yrds

That Centerpoint scope should have no problems with the phantom. Just make sure all the screws are locked down tight.

You might want to get a tube of Blue Loctite. It's a staple with airgunners. Clean the screws and holes with alcohol to degrease them, apply a bit of Blue loctite, let cure for 24 hours, and it'll keep everything from loosening. Also clean the dovetail on the gun and the rings, before mounting the rings.

Make sure you use the Blue and not the Red loctite (Red is more or less a permanent adhesive).

Most AG's don't settle down until you get about 500-1000 pellets thru them. Did you clean the barrel? Run some patches with Goo Gone on them thru the bbl about 20 times. Dry well. Crosman barrels can be quite greasy right out of the box. An indeed, practice the artillery hold, remember with AG's lighter hold is generally better--let the gun run thru it's firing cycle on it's own, don't fight it.

Go to pyramydair.com and run thru some of their training videos and stuff, and their airgunacademy is great for newbies.

thank you imma check that site out and no i didnt clean the barrel out i have the .177 call and the barrel still smokes guessing that is because of the oil or what ever they put on it

As you search for information remember the Phantom is the same action as the Remington Vantage, Remington Summit, Crosman Quest, Crosman Storm, Crosman G1, and Chinese B18/B19. Same gun with different sights and stocks.

I have a storm xt with a centerpoint scope, and I bet I have run 2000 pellets thru the thing. Never had a problem with the scope at all. Centerpoints are good scpes for the money.

thats pretty good korak grouping is nice , my buddy got the same gun and got a head shot on a squirrle at about 35-40 yards on iron sight , so i guess that finaly answers my acuracy ?

so slavia those guns that you say are simular but differnt sights , generaly speaking that means what ever upgrades work for those guns and tricks and all i could use for this gun also ...im not a big fan of the stock on this gun i might have to look into that a bit more

and thanks for the info on the centerpoint i brought the site/gun with out knowing much about both of em then got onto this sight and started reading and relized about the recoil dmging sights

shot about another 25 shots threw the gun today i got my grouping alot closer now after a lil bit of practice and using a folded hand towel to rest the barrle on , it is taking me alot longer then i thought to zero in the scope but its my first time ever doin anything like this i will see if i can upload my recent pic of grouping tryna get the sight zerod in

i dunno how to post pics but if this works this was my first attempt to getting the scope close ... when i first started i wasnt even hitting paper in the top left corner

after some shots and , learning the proper hold for air rifle ive gotten my grouping alot closer together but not below target , today after work acouple fine clicks up should put me around where i need to be then a click or two left/ right

there we go got em to post .. the shots where taking about 45-50 yards from the second story window .. i live in New Jersy so i have to be carefull on what I do, as you can see my aim needs work lol.

When i first started i was all over the place , gotten better with a few days playing around , Still more work I have to do on the scope i hit a squirrel about 25-30 yards out and it wasnt a clean kill at all, feel bad for the guy. If it was a .22 cal im sure he woulda dropped
