I bought this as my first airgun since I was a kid. I put a Tru-Glo Dot scope on it and I haven't been impressed with the accuracy. I shimmed the breach seal and that improved things slightly.

Anyway here is a bench rest review of 9 different pellets at 20 yds.

Most of the targets have 5 shots, some have 4 and some have 6. When I started this I wasn't going to post it anywhere but decided to share after the fact. Maybe it will keep someone from having to buy a dozen tins....

have had my eye on one in .22..600fps .22

If it is the recoiless one..pull the stock/grip off and

I too have my eye on the .22 version of this. Those groups do not look too bad for being at 20 yards. Are you still feeling disappointed with the pistol? Any other complaints besides the accuracy?

I ordered the .177 from RogueOutdoors.com for $142.56 shipped. The price was right, and I felt it would be the perfect plinker to also duble as a close-in small pest eradicator. I intend to master this pistol with open sights. I find this thread about pellets to be very helpful. I know each pistol is different, and I'll keep that in mind.
Meanwhile has anyone had to shim the breech seal to get proper performance from his/her 800 Mag? I've read of this having to be done on some of them. Is the breech difficult to remove?

Make sure you thoroughly go over the pistol when you get it.....mine had a semi-crushed crown at the muzzle, that you couldn't tell was damaged due to the front sight/cocking lever, covering it. My pistolsmith had to lap the barrel, and do quite a bit of work to mine, she shoots fine now, but the quality control seems to vary on these pistols.[/quote]
I'll worry about the quality control when I receive the pistol, but thanks for the top. I should have had the pistol by now, but I'm told by RogueOutdoors that it will ship today (10/6). It's the second attempt on it's part to ship a product that's suppose to be in stock. Remember the name. If I get one more delay I'll cancel the order and get the pistol from elsewhere.
Otherwise I'm STILL looking forward to getting my hands on this pistol. I've been trying to learn all I can about it. So far it seems that quality is either not as tight as it could be, or very good. That's a wide perception gap. If my copy is a defective one, it won't matter much that I got a new one at a relatively low price as compared to other sites. But, ya pays ya money and ya takes ya chances. That's not quite the sentiment I really want to have, though.

Yeah, overall I'm happy with mine, even though it arrived messed up. My local guy has been working for 30+ years on Air rifles/Pistols, and said that stuff made in Turkey (like the 800) is better usually than stuff from South America, but still doesn't compare to English/German/American quality control. It works perfectly for what I wanted it for, which is Squirrel elimination, and plinking. With the right ammo, it groups 5 shot groups at 10 meters that can easily be covered by a Dime. The squirrels have destroyed my Garden, destroyed Gas grill hoses, 96 gallon trashcans, along with my childrens outdoor playground equipment. Hi flintlock28,
I want to use the pistol for the same reasons as you; plinking and squirrel control. Darned things have gnawed the lids on my garbage cans so rain gets in, and I've had to replace them. They also gnawed the wheels on my Weber grill to where I've had to replace them too. Plus, they get in the wife's planters on the deck, and create a mess, and have pulled out the gutter screens (for what, who knows why?). My neighbor has had his garden ruined year after year because of them half eating his tomatoes. If the 800 Mag can dispense with them without too much fuss, I'll be fine with that. Don't want to kill them since I don't eat squirrel, but they just seem to multiply and cause ruination where ever they get established. I wish they'ed just go elsewhere, but...maybe an example has to be made. Twisted Evil

PS think a Chipmunk at 20 yards is do-able?
