I'm trying to find a rear sight for an original Slavia 618 from the early 1960's. I shot it growing up and I'd like to fix it up for my son. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ash

The last time I called CZ-USA about parts for my 631, they said if the parts were available it would take 9 months to get them from the Czech Republic. They don't import or support airguns in the US. The CZ (Czech) site lists only a few spares for their newer guns, and nothing for the 618:
http://www.czub.cz/en/contact/94-f-a-q.aspx

The CZ site says the 625 and the 618 are almost identical. This other site says the 625 was made for the German market, but on the off chance you would find one it looks like it will work:

Another option would be the auction sites like gunbroker.com, or the "want to buy" sections of the various airgun forums.

If the gun were mine, I think I would just make the piece (or find a friend that could do it). It's much simpler than the 630/631/634 sight, and could be made with hardware store materials and hand tools:

Good luck with your quest.

I contacted CZ-USA and they said that the 618 was too old to service here, and they also advised me to get a hold of the Czech office. I contacted them and they were very responsive to my request. Unfortunately, their answer was not positive. They said that they stop carrying parts for any firearm once the firearm ceases production for 10 years.

I will look into your idea of manufacturing my own sight, or I will try and cannibalize an old sight from a different model Slavia.

Thanks again

It looks like the 618 has a simple dovetail mount, to be drifted sideways for windage adjustments. The 630/631/634 sight is an entirely different design, mounted with a tension pin:

Since I shoot with a scope on the Slavia 631, I had the rear sight available for a Hakim project (the original was missing). I cut the dovetail with a Dremel and a file, and adapted the 631 sight to fit. I think in the case of the 618, once I had the dovetail it would be simpler to make the rest than adapt a different Slavia sight:

I've got a 618 that's old enough that it was handed down to my dad when his dad passed away then I ended up with it. From what I understand it's from the early 60's. Mine has a rear site that's welded on. It's not adjustable for windage, just elevation. Mine has had the rear sight broken off so I had a friend tack it back on and I reblued it. It looks good but shoots to the right. I did a little research and found that guys have removed the original rear sight and drilled and tapped the top of the barrel to take a simple sight similar to the ones on the older Crosman 760's.

My old slavia had a simple drift to adjust dovetail like Slavia mentioned

You could start with something like this

http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=8812/avs|Style_1=Dovetail/Product/SPORTING_REAR_SIGHTS
Then if you wanted it really authentic drill and tap it for a thumb screw

The link does not work but copying the whole line and pasting does. Or you can use this link.http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=8812/avs-Style_1=Dovetail/Product/SPORTING_REAR_SIGHTS

I also tried to cut and paste the link from the site and it did not work. Then I changed the "|" symbol to "-" and then the entire link could be posted as normal and work. I don't even know what to call that mark. Smile

http://www.gunspares.co.uk/shopdisplaycategories.asp?id=24058&cat=Slavia or you should be able to make a cheap used sight work. Lots of stamped metal sights on ebay.
