Have Sheridan with rocker type safety and original factory sights. If I decide to buy a Williams peep sight for it and remove the existing rear sight, install the peep sight, is that process reversible? That is, how difficult is it to put back factory rear sight once it has been removed? Do most people just prefer the Williams peep sight over the original in general? Would the peep sight devalue the gun if I decide to sell it (gun) at some point?

The proper location for a peep sight (such as the Williams) is on the breech. Early models will not have a dovetail to mount on. You could have the breech machined, or machine a new piece for the bolt catch (the little plate held in by 2 screws on the left side breech).
I don't know how these changes might influence the value.
There also should be no need to remove the original rear sight if the peep's line-of-sight does not get blocked by the original rear. IIRC the original is soldered on. Should work just fine to bottom out the elevation on the original. |
