The first pellet I put though it....you got to be kidding me.. the second pellet WOW....time to look a bit closer..what this the action is on slides....So I put another pellet in but this time I slid the action to the rear of the slide & fired again...Yep theres the recoil..When yer cock it the action is slid forward so when it fires the piston weight traveling forward is countered by the weight of the action traveling rearward... I tell yer this is NO gimmick it WORKS...After you have fired the cross hairs are still where they were before yer fired.... I can say that Gamos/Crosmans/Hatsans/Bam admitdly in a diffrent prise range..but prise aside...Are JUNK compaired to the 54.... the old saying "yer get what yer pay for."...In this case its 100% true.. Not a hour ago I put half of my springer fleet on a NZ action site... I'm going to have a 54...will be over $1000 but it worth every dollar... Or maybe sell my first born..."before hes a teenager" In the pics you can see the action in the forward & aft postion.. Its hard to beleave that small amount of travel can make such a big diffrents..It dose...I guess weight V weight countering each other out... After I put the new spring & seal in...the owner thinks hes getting it back..... Pete 54 owner in waiting... The only thing to add is that they are very hard on scopes. I went through several scopes before I got a Leupold 6.5x20 EFR. It holds zero and is positive and repeatible in adjustments. I've done every thing from field target shooting (mine runs just a tudge under 20 ftlbs) to offhand prctice for NMC high power (with receiver sights) to hnting/shooting rats, squirrels, rabbits, Crows, starlngs, possums and feral cats. I mostly use 14.3 gr Crosman CPs ecept with rabbits and the old Vortex Lampreys for closer shots on rabbits. Accuracy is phenominal through 90 yards with weight/sorted CPs. My R9 .20 cal is fun for recreational shooting but for serious shooting the M54 gets the nod. Some people think that because there is "no" recoil the scope will manage, but as Pete stated, the action slides.
