i ended up getting the crosman phantom at walmart yesterday for 80 for my first break barrell it shoots pretty nice, at first it was sounding like my 10/22 but then stopped breaking the air barrier or whatever its called i was using premier hollow points, does that sound right also i just ran a few q tips through the barrel. it seems to have a recoil/shakege but not bad.
This one sayes 1200fps for lead free and 1000 for lead.
does any one know a under 50 either red dot sight or scope that would be good for it. and any other first hand maintinence i should do.

also im in north east florida in jax does anyone know of any rabbit or small game hunting around here and are there any deseases in squirels to watch out for cause i want to eat some

Your 10/22 sounding crack on the first few shots is/was "dieseling"- petroleum based lubricants used at the factory were heating up and burning off. This is not good for a springer over an extended period of time. You may get this on your first few shots of each shooting session for the first few hundred pellets. It is "normal" for the Chinese-made springers when new, but is really not "appropriate". Keep shooting it and eventually it will stop.

As for your question about problems with small game in Northern Florida- I think we only have one or two other people around here from that area, so you may want to check with your local Forestry service people or a hunting club for this sort of thing.

@dkshredaa... "Sight Mark Sure Shot" for your Red Dot... No magnification and 4 recitals to chose from all at a flip of a switch... Just get extra batteries (CR2032)... eBay is a great source for both... Unless your in Canada... then check with Eric...

I love the SureShot so much I own two and looking at a third... You will need a Dovetail to Weaver adapter to mount it on standard 3/8" airgun dovetail.

Unless they're *obviously* not healthy, they should be OK if you're not eating them raw. Shocked

A little Windex should be all you need to clean your barrel. I don't know if acetone will damage the seals or not, but it's pretty strong stuff. There shouldn't be anything in your barrel that needs a really strong solvent.

Acetone would probably turn seals to the consistency of squirrel brain in a couple seconds.

I believe it was acetone I once put in a styrofoam cup... it literally dissolved the cup before my eyes.

Check the innards for anything that doesn't look right (spots on the liver particularly). Anything that is obviously damaged, throw away, which for me has been the whole critter a couple times.

alright i need to look into permits etc
does crosman carry a 22 barrell like an extra for the quest800
and make the phantom a 22 or is something else different.
sorry for all the questions im pretty lost but i learned a little when doing a valve mod to my 1377 just lighter spring and shim the valve pin thing more to an arrow i read the rear cocking spring now needs to be stiffer but that doesnt make since because it needs to be cocked to take air

this is 15yds of a chair with stock sights im not perfect but not horrible, yall think the guns ok its had about 200 hp premiers through
