What is method to lighten Discovery Trigger? Or is there a drop in replacement?

Replace the trigger spring with one made from 0.020" wire instead of the 0.028" stock spring.... Use a spring of the same length and diameter.... Also, polish all the contact surfaces in the trigger including the bottom front of the hammer.... that will smooth the release.... I polish to 2000 grit but 600 is probably good enough.... and a lot easier to find....

With just the spring replacement you will cut the trigger pull weight about in half and it feels like a two-stage trigger.... but without the partial sear disengagement that comes with a true two-stage.... This is actually safer as if you change you mind mid-shot you haven't created a "ready to fire" hair trigger engagement on the sear....

This mod also works on the 2260.... If you want to further lighten the pull (of the "second stage").... you can bend the hairpin spring on the sear but don't reduce the angle by more than about 5 degrees or it will be unsafe.... For hunting I would leave the sear spring alone....

I did the trigger mod as Bob just described...you will not believe how much better it will make your trigger..Mine was a 2260 trigger group and I'm telling ya-- for the price of a $0.35 spring and ~20 minutes(max) of your time, you'll feel like you stole it!!! I really lucked out and had a spring with right dimensions, so that made it even mo' better Cool
